is it the club draging their heals on offering a new deal or the players for not sighning whats offered? Because they think they are going to be part of a winning team and hopefully get promoted they want more money? Or maybe its ccfc offering them peanuts? Any idea annis?

Maybe its just a learning curve for them as they do appear to have a sound business footing but who exactly do you mean here , Jenkins or TG and Co ? Previous regimes ( Sam and Riddler ) handed out ridiculous and OTT contracts to players so maybe the current CCFC board are trying to redress the balance which may take more time , or maybe its the dreaded " speak to my agent " stuff from thje players in question ?
Mon Aug 23, 2010 7:40 am
fracking egg chasers! But can you put the whole blame on them? Surely if were going to be fighting for the promised land we need someone running the show who actually know what they are doing! vt and tg need to show their ruthless business sense and get rid of the dead wood!
Mon Aug 23, 2010 7:41 am
This has nothing to do with TG, Borley was given the job, then Jenkins had a go at Borley, So Jenkins now does them, but has No experience.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 7:52 am
Unfortunately this is another case of media spin. They are making out as though he is undecided whether he wants to stay - That isn't the issue. He's said time and time again that Cardiff is like a home to him because Cardiff is where he has really flourished as a player and he's miles better for it.
As for being offered a new contract - Quite frankly, its disgusting. I want to know why players in their last year of contract still haven't had one drawn up to them. At the end of the day - We all know how it can end (The Ledley saga). Everton made a huge mistake with their contracts and let one of their most promising youngsters (Danny Gosling) leave on a free. We made a huge mistake with our contracts and Ledley left on a free. We cannot allow any more to leave on a free.

so Annis do you think that Borley was up to the job then and was Jenkins out of order to have a pop at him ?

I take it the incompetent people are the same inexperienced idiots who have agreed deals to bring Heaton, Drinkwater, Koumas, Olifinjana, Naylor and Bellamy to the club.
With the likelyhood of more to come

this can't be down to Jenkins surely. Therse players should never have all been allowed to run down their contracts to the final year in the first place. They should have all or nearly all have had new contracts ready to sign last year. Whose fault is that? well who was in charge at the CCS last year? perhaps he was too busy awarding himself massive wages and bonuses and whatever else he may have got up to rather than worry about doing his job properly. I am sure Mr Jenkins will get around to sorting out new contracts pretty soon. I am sure the players and their agents are shrewd enough to have conditions written into their contracts for a certain percentage increase in wages should we get promoted.

DJ and TG/VT sorted all that, GJ is incharge of getting the present squad players contracts Renewed.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:42 am
in that case then maybe DJ should be told to sort out the soon to be out of cintract players aswell ?
Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:46 am
Jay is the first name on the team sheet each week. he has inmproved so much since he first joined. I want him to stay and so does everyone else, but i got a feeling him, whitts, and burke, will wait until the end of the season before deciding what to do. Hopefully, we'll make the prem and they stay.

Annis it is inconceivable that GJ has not been involved in the discussion and all the administration work relating to the signing of players this summer. As CEO of the business he must have been involved in ALL discussions relating to the financing of the Bellamy deal be it with the board, TG & VT and of course Manchester City.
I agree that GJ as part of his duties of CEO is responsible for discussions with existing players about new contracts, however what we do not know is who the club wants to stay or who they want to move on. DJ has made it quite clear in the last week that some players, maybe a FANS favourite, will have to be moved out. Lets just give everyone involved a chance to do their job.
Now you have just returned from a nice holiday with the family, you run the best messageboard relating to Cardiff City Football Club, our club is second in the Championship.
Surely you should be feeling well chilled

Cheers, Coming back to Bellamy and then watching Him and the rest of the team on Saturday was Amazing/Superb

I think that Bothroyd will always be the 2nd name on the team sheet this season and I for 1 dont want him to leave , the only thing I will say is maybe giving him 3 years and a huge salary would be a gamble considering that CCFC are going all guns out for promotion this season .............then again maybe DJ could get the best out of Bothroyd in the Prem unless the likes of Pullis think they can do it now ?
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:14 am
in this day of agents and management companies surely there must a company/agent out there who could be doing all this negotiating on behalf of the club and the players agents.
im assuming the club know what they want to pay while the player knows what he's looking for although im aware that the malaysians want to get back to a realistic wage structure and not the silly money being paid by the ex chairman and possible burger king manager at old trafford

can you imagine it , you buy £500 worth of burgers in advance for the nxt 3 years but when you go to the counter there isnt any at all !
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:43 am
Isn't it just possible that the club have been focusing on putting together deals for new players. Can't believe people are accussing the club of incompetence when we have seen god knows how mkany new players come in and a squad assmebled like never seen before at Cardiff. If that is incompetent I can't wait to see what happens when they strat getting it right.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:51 am
I would be shocked if the club would allow our most wanted player's contracts to run down now to be honest, especially after the Ledley saga!
They'll have to make a big decision though IMO, if decent offers were to come in for the likes of Jay, Whitts or Burkey!
We appear to have been working overtime in the background to bring in cover for Jay (with Stead, Hulse etc having been mentioned), so whilst the club may decide to consider offers for Whitts or Burkey, I certainly cannot see the club allowing Jay to leave in this transfer window, especially with only just over a week of it left!
It's a simple decision in my mind, unless we've lined up the likes of Rooney and or Drogba to replace him, sell Jay and we'll forfeit any chance of automatic promotion!
Personally, if Jay didn't want to sign a new contract now, I'd still keep him, with the belief that he'd help us get automatic promotion and hope that he would at least sign a new contract then!

I think you misunderstand the roles these people play. The CEO does the legal stuff because DJ can't and TG/VT don't do the relatively meanial stuff. The CEO doesn't determine the direction of the club he only facilitates it. If DJ hasn't told him he wants to keep Bothroyd then you can't blame Jenkins for not doing anything about it. The Hammam/Ridsdale way of doing things is the road to ruin from which our current inexperienced idiots have turned us on to a road that appears structured and planned.

Annis,
Fair play to you, you do know how to provoke a debate,!!
Jay will stay he loves Cardiff, unless we do something really stupid , I cant see him wanting to be anywhere else.
Unless the big premiership clubs came in for him, then any player would go.
I am quietly confident that we will get Jay signed up before his contract runs out.
My concerns lie more with the likes of Whitts and Burke, I think they will run there contracts down , although I hope I am wrong.
