I think you can play 3 at the back without the wing backs if the tactics and work ethic are correct
It can be played with 2 holding midfielders which 1 drops to a full back when needed allowing you to have a extra attacking player on the pitch
I would like to see this

Why anyone would want Murphy to continue to start is beyond me. Hoilett and Whyte have to start on the wings.
