A forum for all things Cardiff City

I am hearing on the grapevine that Joe is happy to see the signings that City have brought in and with the names we are linked with but Joe also feels sad that he has moved on at a time he now believes could possibly be our most successful.
Joe feels regret that he has left and I sympathise for him to be fair, as when he made his decision things were not looking so bright on the playing side, the kid wanted desperately to help take ' his club ' to the Premier League and now that Koumas, OJ and Bellamy has signed he is telling friends that they will be up there at the end of the season.
Joe did not let us down he smply moved on, at a time when many thought we were going backward, even Chopra was speaking out publically that he would leave if we didn't make signings to push us on.

Ive heard the same Carl.

Chopra was going nowhere if we didn't want to sell though.
Hell mend Joe then, he made his bed and all the rest of it. We've moved on and so has he, though I'd rather be competing with the teams in the Championship than St. Mirren and Hamilton Accies.

None of us saw what was around the corner, in terms of player signings.
We looked like we were getting no-one in, creditors coming out of the woodwork left, right and centre.
I don't blame him for moving at all.
Celtic - Shit choice, though.

I guess his £5M over four years will soften the blow
Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:35 pm
Carl he would not get in the starting line up now.

No wonder, Glasgow's a dump - if he'd spoke to me I could have found him a nice penthouse on the outskirts of Clydebank
I think it;s no secret that his agent played a big part in his moving, but he should have played the waiting game. The bits that really annpoy me were the running down of the clock etc just making sure we weren't entitled to a penny and all the rest of it.
At the end of the day, it was his choice and you can't blame him for being envious of what's happening at City now. Craig Bellamy or Georgios Samaras - you decide!

it will certainly help

All joking aside, can't blame Joe for following the money with a baby on the way.
Earlier I was doing a bit of facebook stalking and looled at his Mrs photo's of their new house. She isn't complimentary about Glasgow and says she preferred living in Penarth. With a baby due soon, he might regret it when he doesn't have family around.
Then again, he's made his bed and its hard to have sympathy for him. But then again if I was in his position, I wouldn't have signed a new contract. When he left, we had an embargo and all was gloomy at City.

With how it ended up for Loovens I was suprised and disapointed that he went to Celtic, Joes better than that. I can't help but think he will regret moving however I, like alot of other fans didn't think it would happen so soon. I really hope the lad has success up there but I can't see it happening but at the end of the day it was his choice and he has to live with that now.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:51 pm
I have to agree that he probably wouldn't be in our starting eleven but I was always a fan of Joe's and I was sad to see him go. Especially because it was obvious his agent pulled the strings. Still, ultimately it was his decision and I had a feeling he might regret it. We will move on though.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:59 pm
Good, I hope he's happy. and I hope we go up Ledley was our weakest link and wouldn't last 5 games in the Premiership.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:04 pm
I feel gutted for the lad at the end of the day joe was doing what he felt was right for his family.good luck joe
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:09 pm
apparently cardiff offered double your money offer to him which im glad they didnt as my opinion is he wasnt worth it..
ive never really rated him though
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:12 pm
Totally understandable. But he did what was definitely right then. Now he has to move on and play in shittest league he can.

Yeah agree with Ben on this one
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:15 pm
Don't believe the high wages he was offered. It was more to do with the League Appearance and bonuses.
The basic he was offered was basic to say the least!
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:18 pm
The grass isnt always greener on the otherside. As much as Ledley is a city boy, koumas, Oli, and drinkie are much better players. I honestly think ledley would struggle to make our team at the moment.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:22 pm
Should have had faith in TG/VT and the new board, he didn't and took the easy option showing he has no faith in ability by playing in a pub league for the next 4 years.
He's a part of the past, no player is bigger than the club etc.
Would he get into the first team now? I doubt it
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:36 pm
i gotta feeling it could be ridsdales fault , i feel sorry for him if hes feeling like that, but thanks joe for the years you were here .
Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:49 pm
Annis, Carl.
Do either of you by any chance know if Ledley had one on one talks with Dave Jones or possibly Gethin regarding his (jones') targets for the upcoming season in terms of both players and league targets.
Mon Aug 23, 2010 10:52 pm
Oh well he got his big bag of money anyway
He wouldnt get in our team anyway now, we have much better CM's than him here.

A penthouse in Clydebank?! is there such a thing?!
Unless you count the council houses with a view of the Erskine Bridge

As a cardiff boy the decision to leave must have been hard for him.
However I do feel the media hype that surrounded him gave his agent a disproportinate view of his worth.
Yes he played well on many occasions, but without the quality of the team and their faith in him he would not have shone so brightly.
If he cant give all of himself to his home town club then he wont be able to give it to any team.
So in my opinion either we have seen the best that joe has to offer!!!
Or he felt that he was bigger than the rest of the team and moved. Either way its the best move for the club! I wish him well, but feel the right decision was made!
