' Andy Legg '

Just been told the club has parted company with U23s Manager Andy Legg. Strange decision to get rid of somebody with his pedigree. Can see the Academy going backwards further with this decision.

Guess Harris wants his own person in the role if he is trying to promote from within.

I agree. He must surely have someone lined up. Someone he can trust to bring some youngsters through

It is possible that the club/manager are looking to go in a different direction?

As City supporters, we appreciate Andy Legg and the work he has done but it seems the low numbers of players coming through to the First Team may have caused a rethink on its current value/set up?

Re: Andy Legg

It goes deeper. 6 Academy scouts have left over the last couple of years. The main reason James McCarthy the Academy Manager.

How is McCarthy still in the job?

There's no room for it to go backwards...

Why?

I know he was a good player for us but he’s done literally nothing as U23 manager has he.

As for the sacking six scouts they want to sack a couple more because the academy needs sorting out from top to bottom literally nothing coming out of it.

Not being negative but what’s he done to justify the ‘pedigree’? Great player mind :bluescarf:

Disappointed to hear this I know Andy leggier very well grew up together in Baglan port talbot we both still live here not far from each other I would have thought that Neil Harris would wanted as he could have told Harris where it needs to go Andy knows the club well and all the areas where they can tap in for new talent

I understand what you’re saying mate and as I said Leggy was a legend on the pitch and i couldn’t think of a better ambassador for our club.
It’s a results business though and I’d imagine his ‘results’ are mainly to do with the academy players graduating to the first team. I don’t know details of his targets etc within the post but being a club icon which he undoubtedly is, unfortunately doesn’t automatically make him a success re academy player progress. IMO.

You’re right there being a club icon does not automatically keep you in a job but Andy would have been very help full and loyal And there’s not a lot of loyalty in the game today

I would imagine pedigree means..
. the experience of playing 600 lge games . he has an A licence.. and has managed a number of welsh league clubs.

True.
I’d think pedigree was more what you actually do with your A licence etc.

Post history suggests he at least used to. Not a huge fan of James McCarthy though

well if your not going to appoint people who have the required qualifications. plus have a background in playing and managing...who played for us ..who do you appoint ?....these are not brilliantly paid posts either.
btw he took Llanelli into Europe...cant remember how.. cup/league..but I remember them playing tiblisi because we played them in the 70s..

Scouts were not sacked. Walked away because of the way the Academy was being run by Mcarthy.

mate. he was employed as an academy coach...who do people expect to be coaching in our academy..?
I have zero idea how good he was..but trust me that would be considered pedigree at every single club
this thread is about a billion times more bonkers than all that we don't want harris stuff..

Perhaps it’s a case of the club taking a punt and hoping it will come good rather than investing (more heavily) in someone with more experience. He didn’t produce so maybe they’re moving onto the next hopeful.
