About Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers Football Club, commonly abbreviated to QPR, is a professional association football club based in White City, London. The club currently competes in the Championship, the second tier of English football. They were founded in 1886 after the merger of Christchurch Rangers and St Judes Institute, although their official founding date is 1882 which is when Christchurch Rangers were first formed. In the early years after the club's formation in its original home of Queen's Park, London, they played their home games at many different grounds, until finally the club settled into its current location at Loftus Road, renamed Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium at the beginning of the 2019/20 season.

The club's achievements include winning the League Cup in 1967, and they were FA Cup finalists in 1982. Their highest ever league finish was achieved in 1975–76 when they were runners-up in the old First Division, now known as the Premier League and qualified for Europe for the first time reaching the quarter-finals of the 1976–77 UEFA Cup.

QPR have long-standing rivalries with several other clubs in the London area. The most notable of these are Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford, with whom they contest the West London derbies.

Neil Harris faces his first selection dilemma of the year today as he welcomes back captain Sean Morrison from his three-match suspension.

Morrison was sent off in that thriller up at Elland Road last month and was subsequently hit with a three-game ban, despite the club appealing the decision.

However, he returns to the reckoning today as Cardiff City make the trip down the M4 to face QPR.

It will be intriguing to see how Harris decides to line up at the back, given that all four of his centre backs - Aden Flint, Curtis Nelson, Sol Bamba and Morrison - are all available, but first-choice wing backs Joe Bennett and Lee Peltier are likely to be absent.

Peltier missed the win over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday owing to a knee injury he sustained against Millwall on Boxing Day, while Bennett was carried off on a stretcher up at Hillsborough following a head collision with Junior Hoilett. The outcome of that clash made for pretty grim viewing.

But Bamba did brilliantly when he came on up in Sheffield, making two important interventions late on to maintain the Bluebirds' lead, while Flint also looked steady and assured.

Jazz Richards will likely slot straight back in at left-back, while it remains to be seen who will be given the nod on the other flank.

Leandro Bacuna filled in against the Owls, so he is certainly an option, however there have been many calls for Cameron Coxe to be given the opportunity to show what he can do.

Elsewhere, it looks unlikely that Nathaniel Mendez-Laing will be fit enough to feature, having hobbled off up at Hillsborough owing to another hamstring problem.

The winger struggled with his hamstring in the early part of the season and it took him a while to get back up to speed. He has, however, called it only a minor setback.

Joe Ralls will also miss the clash due to his broken hand, the South Wales derby next week is the target for his return.

Meanwhile Isaac Vassell and Matthew Connolly remain the long-term absentees.

Predicted Cardiff City XI: Etheridge; Bacuna, Flint, Nelson, Richards; Pack, Vaulks; Whyte, Tomlin, Hoilett; Glatzel

Absolutely no pressing from Us again, I don’t expect us to play like Liverpool or Man City but with no pressure on the opposition they don’t have to pump it long as we have to when we come under pressure

Dont look bad at times going forward, seen more passing and build up this game so far then in the last 3 home games.

Shame about their soft goal and the blatant handball

Don't want to sound too positive after the negativity (mainly from the usual source) at City going 1-0 down with 80 minutes still to play but City coming well into the game now and Tomlin strutting his stuff nicely

QPR still attacking well but don't count out this battling City side

Positive post over... :ayatollah: :bluescarf:
