Harris OUT!!

Postby GENERAL CHAT » Sat Jan 04, 2020 4:52 pm

Unacceptable, 8 goals shipped in 135 mins, 2 against a league two side!! :o :( :( :(
Edmund: Have you ever been to Wales, Baldrick?
Baldrick: No, but I've often thought that I'd like to.
Edmund: Well don't. It's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of tough, sinewy men roam the valleys terrifying people with their close-harmony singing

Its Trollope all over again. Guaranteed defeat coming up the jacks. If that's the case he needs hounding out asap before hes allowed to do any lasting damage. If the players truly believed in him today would not be happening.

Please explain how Harris can be blamed for the pathetic attitudes of some of the players he's inherited? Harris can only select the players who are available to him.

Harris has inherited a bloated, slow, overpaid squad. Some players are past it now, some players don't have the correct attitude, some players simply aren't good enough. Like it or not, this is a squad Neil Warnock has built and the reason Warnock stepped down was because he realised the squad he's built isn't up to it.

Just like Russell Slade (who only lost 2 home games in his one and only full season with us), it's very popular to slate Neil Harris for everything, as he isn't the big, glamorous name certain fans wanted and he's seen as a cheap option.

Maybe Neil Harris is a cheap option, but he did a very good job at Millwall, taking them to an 8th placed finish in their first season back in the Championship and knocking out 3 Premiership teams on the way to the FA Cup quarter finals. Harris also achieved a club record 17 match unbeaten run with Millwall in their first season back in the Championship.

Based on Neil Harris' record at Millwall, it's obvious to see he is NOT out of his depth managing us at this level. Neil Harris has actually proven to be a very good manager at this level. What did everyone really expect? The same players who let Warnock down, the same players who lost to Reading 3-0 and the same players who lost derbies against Bristol City and Swansea are now letting Neil Harris down.

The problem isn't Neil Harris, the problem is the players. A mass clearout is required and Neil Harris needs time to assemble his own squad. Then, and only then will be an acceptable time to judge Neil Harris. No manager can achieve anything with our current squad of players. It's going to take a lot of time for any manager to turn things around.

It is no help criticising Neil Harris at this moment of time, he's only just entered his first transfer window with us and Tan has already said he has no money to spend. Let's try to keep supporting Neil Harris and see if he can improve us this transfer window.

Neil Harris deserves to be given a chance and the only way he can be given a fair chance is if he is given time to sort out the mess he's inherited.

Why do people keep talking about his record at Millwall. One season of relative success (finishing 8th) doesn’t make him a good manager...especially at a club that he knows inside out. Beating teams in the cup also doesn’t make him decent...anything can happen and who knows how strong those premiership teams were.

However if people do want to compare his record at Millwall, why not look at where there were when he left them this season v where they are now. Incidentally looks like they comfortably dispatched Newport today as you would expect of a championship team against an out of form L2 team.

Serious question, had we appointed someone like Ancelloti (a stretch I know) would you want him out after the same results as Harris?

I have sympathy for Harris and until last week his record if not the style was ok, if a bit fortunate. But his appointment says everything about the lack of ambition at the club. Cheap option.

inherited inherited inherited...managers inherit player mate... and this lot were/are decent..
he has zero idea how he wants to play its a mish mash..
I don't want Warnock back but his last game we lost but were the better team...we are not better than anyone now.. all we have now is they keep going for the whole 90minutes which is engrained in them {but will not be for long if he continues with his clear the decks type crap in between bigging them up randomly } .
if you think its getting better your watching different games to me..
hope he can turn it around but its looking less likely by the week...

Totally agree with that but I honestly think he's doing the best be can with a bang average squad. The QPR result is unacceptable though

That’s a ridiculous comparison, but at least Ancelloti has had a sustained and multiple periods of success so it might be reasonable to expect things to come good.

Harris hasn’t...there is nothing on his CV to suggest he will be a good manager or that he can be a successful.

Let’s not forget, his appointment was supposed to be someone who could step in and kick the current squad on - evolution not revolution. There is no sign of evolution at all. Nigel Person hasn’t had a transfer window, but he has transformed Watford. Gary Rowett also hadn’t, but he has taken Millwall from relegation spots to play offs.

Our form, apart from QPR have improved though. Beat Swansea and everyone will be happy again, I think we're a very reactive fan base (especially on here)

You're right about being a reactive fan base but then isn't every football club the same?

And if we beat Swansea everything will be great until the next time we lose and then views will change again.

Not Harris fault at all. We got him because the Owner doesn’t want any more of his money squandered.

Warnock signed most of these players, and wasted millions.

REALLY!!! Our fans are a joke sometimes. How many of you lot moaning about Harris on here actually went to QPR and the Carlisle game today????

The performances are not great..but we are getting results...QPR and Brentford aside...we are still in the fa cup...just. we have had our first away wins and our home is still a fortress...Bristol game aside.

We are banging on the playoff door for christ sake!!!

We haven't lost the return Jack's game yet!! but people are already assuming it.

We were not playing great under Warnock remember and he pretty much kept the same side. Harris is trying different players and tactics until he understands the best combination and with a transfer window coming and having to do it on a shoestring he has his work cut out.

He needs a chance is all I'm saying. Fulham for all their money are not that far ahead of us. The season is a marathon not a sprint and we are not fighting relegation!!!

We weren't ready for prem last year and defo not this year so if we had turned those draws into wins we would be in the playoffs when we are not really ready for it.

I would much rather settle our squad this year just outside the playoffs and push next year than go up unprepared.

It could be worse. We could over spend and end up like Villa coming back down again or even worse....end up like Bury!!! At least we have a team to follow through thick and thin every year.

Chin up Bluebirds!!!
