Jumping to conclusions lads.

Disgusting how some will get on a players back just on half a comment off Ratcliffe of all people.

Midfield players should tidy up the clearances.

the guy is always going to give the opposition a chance during a game much the same way as darren purse did
we signed him from a club that had just been relegated to league one from the championship.
he plays one good game followed by a couple of bad ones with the play offs being a classic example where he had a great game at leicester but an appalling game in the return at ninian and an even worse play off final.
sometimes jones stubborness at being proved right costs us dearly

Of course I will, he played well on Saturday, and has most times I've seen him. Half of what he gets blamed for is bollox. mistakes Gerrard made at the sart of the season, play-off goals (none of which were down to him), goal at Derby. Others that people have posted on here I couldn't beleive.

Ratcliffe says he hasn't cleared it well, a couple of passes later and some of you are ready to hang him again. You do realise Rats thinks every CB except him is crap, Johnson, Loovens, Gabbi, Collins, he found fault with all of them.

He also seemed to make loads of headers and teckles -hard to tell from home , but Hudson was mentioned at least twice as much as Gerrard, so must have been getting stuck in.

If the lad was lazy or had no bottle then he'd deserve the stick, but thats absolutely NOT the case.

He won't be going anywhere, you know that .

Few points Steve.

Purse was a very good player when he first came here.

As for this'he signed from a team who went down'... I'm sick of hearing that, whay about 2 years before when he played for Palace when they went up. Charlton were a mess, they struggled all year and hardly set the world alight in L1 last season so it was hardly his fault.

As for the play-offs, yes he was excellent at leicester, but didn't play badly in either the semi (when the Leicester tactics caught us out with Howard on Blake) or the final, (where unfit players cost us -kev injured, Burke unfit, Bothroyd limped off, goals caused by 1. Fantastic free kick, 2. keeper error 3. Whittigham failing to tackle until it was too late then his chalenge pushed the ball away from Blake and Hudson).

Jones will pick the players he thinks are best - incuding what he sees in training. He'd put his job at risk and his chances of success at risk if he did otherwise.

Wouldn't you rather believe what you see with our own eyes ?

Or wait for the reports rather than base an opinion on a few posts on the internet from people who weren't even at the game (including me ;) )

did he not score an own goal in the play off game agaist leicester.
i think that jones must have a few doubts now as we are looking for one or two centre backs to bring in.

Re: Hudson again

Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:14 pm

He does have a few good games but hes not consistant enough or aware of what is going on round him i.e derby goal he was to slow 2 react you put fast players up against him he will struggle you cant say he was worth £1million or even good enough to get into a promotion squad

I guess you did see that OG Steve. Howard headed it at him after getting a virtual free header jumping against a 5 ft 9 centre half. Surely you don't blame hudson for that.

Jones is looking for CBs because a. he only has 3, b. he no longer wants Gerrard, and c. he'll always want better as its the only part of our squad which is average.

no way was he worth £1m - I agree on that, but that isn't his fault. We can't get the money back.

Derby he didnt react because Blake who was behind him didn't call which is why Marshall as well as Hudson had a go at Blake afterwards. Maybe he should have been more alert - personally i think thats harsh.

90% of centre backs I've seen struggle against pace, thats why they are centre backs and not wingers. The ones that CAN cope with it are priceless . We don't have any.

Re: Hudson again

Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:45 pm

I have to say I'd prefer us to play without Hudson but in his defence he gets a lot of stick. For example, if Gerrard makes a mistake everyone claps him and tells him to forget about it but if Hudson makes one then everyone is immediately on his back. I'm not saying Hudson is our best centre back but he's got an uphill task the minute he steps onto the pitch and every mistake he makes becomes magnified.

That's football though. He gets paid enough to handle that pressure.

sorry boys but im one of the ones that reckon hudson should go. he does have a couple of blinding games but overall id say he has more bad games than good.

Re: Hudson again

Fri Aug 27, 2010 12:30 pm

get rid of hudson now b4 its 2 late hes had enough chances and is to inconsistant and just not good enough for this division and certainly not good enough when we go up (next season im sure)

He's not a top top CH, but I'd have him before either Pompey centre back, or the Donny ones last week.

Come to that the Sheff U ones were shite as well, and Cov and Derby ones looked rubbish on TV last week as well.

So maybe we expect too much ater Loovens, Johnson, Collins and Gabbi ?
