MY VIEW: TERRIBLE DEFENDING ONCE AGAIN BY CARDIFF / BUT THIS

My View/Opinion

TERRIBLE DEFENDING ONCE AGAIN BY CARDIFF / BUT THIS TIME V CARLISLE UNITED(Very worrying).

HOW THE HELL DID WE DEFEND SO BADLY v A TEAM 57 PLACES BELOW US, WHO COULD ACTUALLY GO OUT OF THE LEAGUE? ?

NEIL HARRIS FIELDED VIRTUALLY A FIRST TEAM THAT HAVE ALL PLAYED AT SOME STAGES DURING THIS SEASON IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

TONIGHT CARDIFF WERE PLAYING ONE OF THE WORST SIDES IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

I say it virtually every week, I dont rate Neil Harris, League 1 manager & dire football.

Harris is not the right manager if Cardiff City want to progress.

FA CUP 3RD RD REPLAY

CARLISLE UNITED 3 CARDIFF CITY 4 :bluebird: :bluebird:
Crowd 4,381
Away Support 348 Cardiff fans :bluebird:

Cardiff City: Smithies; Coxe, Bamba, Flint, Richards; Vaulks, Ralls; Whyte, Paterson, Murphy; Ward

Subs: Day, Bennett, Nelson, Pack, Hoilett, Glatzel, Bogle

Once again shocking defending by City and with in minutes League 2 Carlisle scored 1-0   mistake by Flint who minutes later redeemed himself and made it 1-1 :bluebird: :bluebird:

City were playing a struggling league 2 team and at times struggling themselves.

In the 37th min Carlisle hit City’s crossbar.

Then in the 45th min Joe Ralls put the ball in and Flint went to head it and it fell to Murphy on the edge of the box and he drilled his volley low into the corner! 1-2 :bluebird: :bluebird:

H/T 1-2 :bluebird: :bluebird:

With in minutes Flint scored again for Cardiff 1-3 :thumbright: :bluebird:

Then minutes later poor defending once again by City.

Nathan Thomas went past Jazz Richards far too easily at the far post and the Carlisle man stood up a lovely ball to the back post, where Harry McKirdy was unchallenged and hammered home easily. 2-3

57th min Danny Ward is found in the box with his back to goal, turned his defender well and hammers into the bottom corner at the far post with his right foot 2-4 :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

64th min McKirdy, Carlisle strike 3-4

Cardiff sub: Coxe came off, Bennett on.

Cardiff sub: Whyte came off, Pack on.

Cardiff managed to hold on and win 4-3 :bluebird:

I have to agree with Allan, as I’ve just said on another thread. Apart from Richards and Ralls none of them should be in our starting line up.

That was a lot more difficult than it should have been, with the team we had out.

Our first choice defence has to be Peltier, Nelson, Morrison and Bennett. They all did well on Sunday and kept a clean sheet. So it's worth remembering none of them played tonight.

Good to get through to the next round, but not great to concede three goals against a team in danger of being relegated out of the EFL.

It would have been an embarrassing result for us, if we had gone out so good to stop that.

I still support Harris, these aren't his players and that has to be remembered. These are Warnock's players mostly, and down to his poor recruitment.

Harris deserves more time and needs more time, and I hope Vincent Tan and the board give time to him. Especially as we won't be spending much money.

First team??????

Ha ha,

That is a weak argument.

Poor defending or not, we had one of our development players versus a kid with a lot of talent. 52 places below or not, we've lost to worse and beaten far better. That is the cup for you.

We won the game end of.

FOREVER BLUE:

Ok fantastic football by players who never have been first team players for us this season or over the last year or so

And are not in Harris plans to be main players Smithies

You lot win, these names have not been main players for us

I give up

Alex Smithies

Sol Bamba
Aden Flint
Jazz Richards
Will Vaulks
Joe Ralls
Gavin Whyte

9 changes from the Jacks game and our second choice keeper playing both games.
So did we play our reserves against the 6 fingered gypos from down west?

Agreed :ayatollah:

If Warnock was still here, we may already be out anyway, such was his focus on cup competitions

3 from sundays defence didnt play tonight nor did rolls whyte was sub so was Patterson...you can argue theyre1st team players but not playing week in week out and not together makes for poor performances... just like Bristol and all other sides who went out to lower league teams previously..

Other than Coxe, all these players are considered first team players and Smithies is suppose to be our new no1.

No it is not our first team.
How many times have you seen that lot play as a team this season. I haven't.
Maybe individuals who have played in first team but that team tonight was NOT our first team

Yes I agree they are first team players. But in my eyes the only starters out of that line up should be Ralls and Richards. Smithies should never ever be our No.1 but that’s already been done.

Lets give some credit to the opposition for once rather than simply saying they are terrible. Carlisle raised their game for a cup tie and played beyond their normal level. City still won the match but at the same time showed that there are players in that 11 tonight that need moving on. We are team in transition and we need to be patient. Harris deserves this window to do at least that before I judge him.

No they don’t !!

Coxe less than 5 first team games.

Bamba been out for months and clearly struggling to get back.

Flint has been first team accepted, but no longer first choice with Morrison and Nelson about.

Richards played about 10 games in two seasons.

If you think that justifies calling the back four a first team back four then you are either letting your feelings against Harris get the better of you or you are simply deluded !!

There were certainly players closer to the first team playing in midfield and upfront but seeing as we scored 4 goals I don’t think even you could claim that is where the problem was !!

And that's my point not playing together? Why do top 2 tier teams lose to div 1or2 and conference teams? Simples their players dont play together regularly so dont connect to each other and dont get a performance like the regular1st team does..

People need to stop being fan boys and sticking up for the team when they play terrible admit it.

That was a team full of first team players no matter how anybody try’s to twist it.

That’s not the U23 squad that’s the first team squad.

And it’s not going to change because the people in charge of running the club can not make any decent footballing decisions between them.

Five managers they’ve appointed and only one has been any good.

75% of the transfers they make are terrible. When was the last time we signed a young exciting promising player like when we signed Chopra the first time it’s always millions on donkeys like Flint and Madine.

I don’t think anybody is sticking up for the performance, I certainly am not although we won. But to say that was our best team is far from the truth, which is what people have been pointing out.

The sort of match I expected, and I guessed there would be just the odd goal in it. Typical FA Cup tie, and probably Carlisle's cup final. Seen the underdog come out on top plenty of times in the past, we have been on both ends of shock results over the years. We survive for another round and that's all that really matters.

Annis your totally ignoring what's being said they are 1st team squad players but not regular starters out of those mentioned only flint as started most games rest have put in occasionally a start but generally subs if they are picked and dont ont always play even if on bench... hardly any have played together for 1st 11 more than couple times at most. and yes tonight was crap but we won what more do fans want play great and lose? :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

Don’t really like the term first team players as that implies there are only 11 main players at the club.

Every single one of them who started (bar Coxe) would he expected to perform to as high a standard as the team who played on Sunday. So yes in that case scraping a 4-3 win against the team 21st in League 2 is a shocking performance.

But most of us aren’t defending these results.

What we are saying is that anyone saying that this was a first team simply hasn’t been watching City this year.

We should still have not let in 3 goals but don’t change the argument. How can anyone claim that the back four is a current first team back four. It simply isn’t the case !!
