No excuses not to do 'a Newcastle' this season with the team/squad we have.......................discuss

Well last night showed to me we need to get some of our players matchfit. Its OK having a good squad but if a few players are off the pace it will nullify it all. Our starting 11 is by far the superior team in the league. However it cannot be expected to perform every game and players will need to rest. This is why it is important all our squad players are fully fit for the season so they can step in when required.

We have signed Bellamy, Koumas, Olifinjana, Drinkwater, Keogh, Heaton, Naylor
we are about to sign one, maybe two Centre Halves. All done with no bloody money!!
We are unbeaten (forget about last night) and are currently in an automatic promotion
spot already. We are the team everyone fears. This is ALL down to Dave Jones, there's
not another manager in this division could have done what he's done over the last month.
We will go up this season. If we dont then obviously the Manager will need to take responsibility!
Last season we were one win away from it, and considering how weak our squad was, it was a
minor miracle. Did he have a replacement for Jay? No. Was that his fault? No.
I'm not his biggest fan, but have to admit he has done miracles over the last few weeks, I doubt
there's a better manager in this division. For a start off, he gets Jay Bothroyd playing even though
they dont seem to get on anymore.
I think its time to get off DJ's back.
When we were all going nuts last week over the Bellamy debut and the 4-0 win, how many of us
stopped to think that it was all down to the manager?

Good post imo!
I also think it will be down to the amount of injuries we suffer this season as well, as last season's long term injuries may have cost us an automatic promotion spot!
We've already picked up 3 injuries last Saturday, one of them being a long term injury to our main goal threat (Chops), Oli got injured last night and hopefully he'll be fit for Saturday!
If we continue to pick up injuries at their current rate though, then we're going to need a bigger squad!
There will be an opportunity come the January transfer window, but if we're low on numbers because of injuries come January and we don't strengthen at that time, then it will hardly be DJ's fault!

Well said, alot of Cardiff fans on here dont realise how good he is and how good it is to have a long term manager and to give them time. Like i have always said, stick with DJ and we are the next stoke city-premiership and consistent. Alot of fans on here seem to think there is no plan b. He used plan B on saturday against Doncaster when we were getting destroyed in midfield. He is an intelligent manager who knows his players, he knows a hell of alot more than us the fans who have no coaching experience at anywhere near his level. The man is a genius in my opinion, a manager who deserves to have the freedom of the city if we go up this season. Yet some people will criticise his wage? What so because he earns in a year what most footballers earn in a month??
It is nice to have a manager who is professional, well spoken, fair, treats other teams and managers with respect they deserve and carries this club and keeps us together. I have no doubt that 99% of other managers in this league would have collapsed after the play off final. DJ doesnt kno how to fail, HE WONT FAIL, HE WILL TAKE US UP, READ HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY AND SOME OF YOU MAY JUST REALISE HOW SPECIAL HE IS

A bit of a glowing report that one Cccfcdor.
I've never had a go at DJ for having no plan B because I've always believed he has never had the right players in a squad for this. I do believe he has had the chance to do this but has screwed up with some of the signing he has made in the previous seasons. This season he has changed that so there is no excuse. So far its looking good but I will hold fire on this until I have seen more evidence that he can act on a plan B.
All I will say about an auto place is that it is now realistic for us. This league does tend to throw up some surprises though so I'm not going to demand it. Promotion anyway will suit me fine although I think we deserve an auto after what us fans have had to suffer the last 2 seasons. If we dont get promotion should DJ get sacked/resign, I'm going with a yes on this.

Let's get to the end of the season before talking of sacking people. We've only played 5 games

What a dull thred! Putting extra pressure on a team and management before the seasons even broken sweat! What a clever idea! Let me tell you something, we might have our best squad in years but we're no Newcastle! We aint gonna walk this league. DJ is the best manager we've ever had and you're already calling for him to be sacked 9 months prior to the season even starting!
DULL DULL DULL!

Completely agree with you Taffy. I have come to the conclusion, we just all love something to complain about!

Totally agree, its his 6th Season, Now he has to Deliver.
We need Reserve friendly matches, to keep players fit and when they come back from injury.

I think you're right, but it's ridiculously early to be being so negative imho.
