Cardiff City manager Neil Harris believes loan signing Albert Adomah brings a promotion 'know-how' which can help the Bluebirds push for a top-six challenge in the final few months of the season.

The Bluebirds left it late before they did any business in the January transfer window, in terms of incomings, but signed three players in the final two days, all on short-term loan deals.

The first deadline day recruit, announced just 30 minutes before the 11pm deadline, was Nottingham Forest wide man Adomah, who has put pen to paper on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.

The 32-year-old Ghana international will provide competition for the wing berths, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing likely to be out for the remainder of the season.

And while he might not be the marquee signing some City fans were hoping for, Harris thinks Adomah's experience will be crucial for that promotion push over the coming months.

NEIL HARRIS:

“I’m pleased to bring Albert to the club," Harris said of the former Aston Villa winger.

"I wanted to bring in some Championship experience and he certainly possesses that.

"He offers that know-how and has experience of being promoted from this division on more than one occasion.

"I know I’ve brought an excellent character into the group."

One big shock on deadline day was the departure of veteran right back Lee Peltier.

Peltier had been at the club for five years and few even contemplated that he might be on the move until news emerged on the final day of the window.

As such, Cardiff were forced to bring in another player in the 11th hour and it came in the form of young Wolves prospect Dion Sanderson, who also joins on loan until the end of the season.

Sanderson, 20, has operated largely as a centre back for Wolves, but can also play at right back and it is thought that is where Harris sees him playing in a Cardiff City shirt.

The Wolves academy product, however, is thought to be brought in only as back-up for the incumbent Jazz Richards.

But if Adomah is someone who brings experience, Harris hopes Sanderson's youth and vibrancy will also be a big asset to the squad.

NEIL HARRIS:

"I wanted to bring in some youthfulness and some energy and we’ve managed to do that with Dion," said Harris.

"I’ve said that we need cover in the full-back area, and Dion gives us that.

"He wants to work and train hard, and I’m looking forward to working with him."

Left back Brad Smith was also signed on Thursday on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season.

Neil, when you came here you spouted off about bringing our youth through the ranks. Then you go and sign a 20 year old fullback from another team when we already have Cameron Coxe. How is that bringing OUR youth through the ranks.

Ffs dont you want us signing young prospects? They can both compete for the back up position. Cameron clearly iant quite ready or we prob would have seen more of him on the bench
