OFF OPIC - Clydebank FC appeal for help

Sun Feb 09, 2020 5:03 pm

Those of you who know me will know the background to Clydebank.

Since being franchised in 2002 and going out the game, the supporters have fought long and hard to reintroduce football into the town and progress the club on and off the park every year. With the ever expanding pyramid system in Scotland also progressing, we're almost in a position to take the club back into the Senior football system in Scotland. In terms of the ground and an SFA licence to allow us to progress, we're a little bit short of the requirements and the work has to be done by the end of December. We're now on the beg for a little help from fellow football fans around the country and the details are in the picture below.

Our crowds range from 300- 1000 depending on how and/or who we're playing. Most folk in the area follow Celtic or Rangers. Everything the club does pretty much comes from the pockets of the fans, with a little help from some local sponsors. Some of these sponsors are helping with the work but we really need a little help to get over the line.

From 1996 - 2002 we had no ground in the town due to charlatan owners. We played our last professional match in 2002 and missed a year of football due to the franchising of the club to Airdrie. We've followed a very similar path to Wimbledon over the years.

there's more info on our website http://www.clydebankfc.com

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. If it's one pound or a million, it's greatly accepted.

Thanks for reading!

Not at present, we have folk working on different things though.

Takes a little time as everyone involved is a volunteer. Will drop an update as and when.

would be a good idea I think. gives people the opportunity to follow how much has been collected.. and bump posts like this now and again.. anyway good luck.. I watched a Welsh league game yesterday ,how clubs make ends meet on small crowds I don't know. more players than fans.

I've put it in as a suggestion. I think it's possibly the fees that put them off going down that route. I've also suggested that they post updates on the running total to keep people informed.

As the former treasurer of our club, it's bloody difficult to keep it going and we are one of the better supported clubs in our league. Took in a game at Flint Town United last season the night before we played Everton away and the crowd could only have been 200

PS; Thanks to whoever made this a sticky - much appreciated

Every penny really is a bonus chief. The sums involved seem paltry to the big clubs but will make an amazing difference to us.

Almost a third of the way there to the initial target.

Thanks to all who have donated so far, it is very much appreciated.
Still no details on a Gofundme or Just Giving page, mainly due to trying to ensure that the donations go in full to the fund and are not lost through fees etc.

With Internet Banking so easy to use these days, we feel it's the best way to process donations and maximise the funds donated to the cause.

Another update from the club on the bigger picture.

https://twitter.com/clydebankfc/status/ ... 17538?s=21

Clydebank FC can today confirm it has agreed to support the West of Scotland league as proposed by the Lowland League.

The club board has continued to explore all available opportunities to join the Scottish FA pyramid.

There are currently two proposals pending with the Scottish FA for a West feeder to the Lowland League: a West of Scotland league facilitated directly by the Lowland League, and alternatively a league to be run by the West Region SJFA.

The club board met last night and has agreed to support the West of Scotland league as proposed by the Lowland League.

We understand applications for that league will open soon. We will keep all Trust members updated on that process.

As a result of this, club director Matt Bamford has stood down from his office bearer roles from the West Region and SJFA.

Matt served as President and Vice President respectively, and the club board places on record their thanks to Matt for his service to the organisation.

Things moving a little slower than anybody would like with all the Covid restrictions and regulations. The wider Clydebank, Dunbartonshire and Glasgow areas with new restrictions enforced this week.

If anyone would like to join us, you can do so here https://www.clydebankfc.com/product/new-member/ a number of members of this board have signed up already. Every little helps us. As previously mentioed, we are 100% fan owned - the first in Scotland to go this way and have managed to remain this way.

And when the games over and The Bankies have won
It's back to the Atlantis to join in the fun
And it's Clydebank FC.....

Around eight miles apart mate. Clydebank from the town of Clydebank, lots of mismanagement by shitty owners but thankfully back in the town and now owned 100% by the supporters. Clyde originally from Rutherlgen but sadly relocated to Cumbernauld. Would love to see them back in Rutherglen one day.

Had a great uptake of City fans to our membership, thank you so much lads. Football creates the greatest bonds.

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well. I thought I'd drop you all a wee update on this.

Over the summer I re-joined our Board of Directors after a 14 year absence. We've been working our way through much of the upgrades required to help us become an SFA licensed club once again - all going well we can apply for this in February. This would give as access to the Scottish Cup, a tournament that hasn't had the Clydebank name in it since 2001-2002

Our Trust has doubled membership in the last two months - The Trust owns the club which is ran voluntarily by fans. We now have 20 South Wales addresses amongst our list, very much appreciated that is too! You can read more about our trust through this link https://www.clydebankfc.com/product/new-member/

This coming Saturday, we are down to play our first match in 'Senior' football in Scotland since May 2002, a big step for us all and one that we're excited for however no fans being currently allowed in is clearly a downside.

Sadly, we didn't get the go fund me option up and running, it was felt that the costs were hindering the ultimate goal however we have now joined the Donate A Ticket scheme which has become very popular and if anyone is interested then it can be accessed through this link https://donateaticket.com/donate/clydebank/ 100% of all donations go straight to the club through this vehicle.

We also plan to live stream our home matches starting on the 31st October, we have had a few test events and they have went well so we're gearing towards the league starting now!

Thanks for your time, check out www.clydebankfc.com for all our latest news.
