Wigan a bit of a bogey team for us. Only ever seen us win at home twice against them including a winner from super sub Billy Woof in a 3-2 win in 1980! Wigan tend to do well here, like we do at Huddersfield and Forest. Going for a 1-1 draw, and then a win against Stoke!

Wigan will probably try to shut up shop and hit us on the counter and we tend to struggle against teams who sit back, but I fancy a bit a magic from tomlin and we will nick it 1-0 :ayatollah:

Won't be easy and the sort of match we have had a habit of losing, especially when expectations are high. Confidence should also be high though, and I am going for a 3-1 home win. :bluescarf:

Wigan at the moment are no push over. Their league position does not do them credit.

This will be a great test for us to prove our form is no fluke. I think we have enough to overcome them.

Going to be a very tough game... Wigan have shown a lot of resilience in recent games other than their defeat against Preston (?). Weather bad and 3rd game in a week could mean we have to be extremely patient. I hope we can squeeze past them but not expecting anything comfortable.

Firstly,I'm liking the new barry welsh :thumbright: secondly you are spot on with this being anything other than a very tough game,we too have shown resilience lately (2 clean sheets away) I see this as no more than a goal in it,this is another test of the teams credentials I'm going for 2-1 to us,Adomah getting his first. :old: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

The early Cardiff City vs Wigan team news with defender in contention for Bluebirds debut

The Bluebirds welcome the Latics to Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon in hope of continuing their tremendous run of form to keep the pressure on the Championship's top six

Cardiff City welcome Wigan to the Welsh capital today
Brad Smith is finally in contention to make his Cardiff City debut when Wigan come to town this afternoon.

The Australia international was signed on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season over a fortnight ago, however has not been deemed match-fit enough by Neil Harris until now.

Smith has missed league games against Luton Town and Huddersfield Town, with Harris instead opting for the left back to play a behind-closed-doors friendly and an under-23s game.

He came through the under-23s win over Bristol City this Tuesday, Steve Morison's first in charge of the young Bluebirds, unscathed after playing 90 minutes and now Harris has confirmed he is available to contend for that left-back berth with Joe Bennett.

Dion Sanderson, meanwhile, will also be looking to force his way into the reckoning, having travelled with the Bluebirds to Luton and Huddersfield in the last week, despite not being named in either of the match-day squads.

The Bluebirds manager also confirmed there are no fresh injuries from the midweek triumph up at the John Smith's Stadium.

Harris did, however, give cause for optimism with regards to Joe Ralls.

The midfielder has been absent for the best part of three months owing to a number of issues, from a groin strain to a broken hand to, most recently, a glute muscle problem in his backside.

"Joe Ralls is doing really well, he's back on the grass," Harris said.

"This weekend is too soon for him. We are hopeful he will come through training today and tomorrow morning and then he is back in the group next week."

Harris now has an age-old issue to contend with this weekend.

How does he balance the players' workloads without damaging the continuity which has brought him so much success of late?

Harris named an unchanged team in midweek, meaning the same XI has produced two wins in a row within the last seven days - so does he roll the dice on rolling them out against Wigan?

Presumably Harris will not want to waste any opportunity to continue this impressive string of results and, in all likelihood, will stick with the side who have conceded no goals and scored four in their last two outings.

WIGAN ATHLETIC

Latics boss Paul Cook has confirmed that Antonee Robinson will be out for two weeks due to a groin injury picked up in training, whilst Chey Dunkley will serve the first of a two-match suspension following his second red card of the season during Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough at the DW Stadium.

Brighton & Hove Albion loanee Leon Balogun made his debut as a substitute against Boro and could be in contention for his first start on Saturday against Cardiff City.

Danny Fox (groin) and Kieran Dowell (ankle) remain sidelined.
