Young Bluebird Ciaran Brown played 90 mins for Livingston ( on loan ) in their 1-0 defeat to Rangers in front of over 48,000 at Ibrox this afternoon. Great experience for the kid. :thumbright: :bluebird:

Here is the Cardiff City loan report.

Ciaron Brown's huge exposure

When Ciaron Brown left for Livingston on loan at the start of the January transfer window, it is fair to say that everyone felt it was best for all parties.

With four experienced centre-backs — Sean Morrison, Curtis Nelson, Sol Bamba and Aden Flint — in situ at Cardiff City Stadium, Brown was unlikely to get a look in.

He broke through a little under Neil Warnock at the start of the season and subsequently earned a shock call-up to the Northern Ireland senior side, making his debut against Luxembourg.

The 21-year-old then dropped off the radar a little and it was widely acknowledged he needed senior football elsewhere.

Having already spent some of last season up at Livingston, Brown said he was keen to go back there as he had 'unfinished business'.

Neil Harris has said he is excited for him to come back this summer, having experienced the rough and tumble of the Scottish Premiership, and believes his experiences north of the English border will stand him in good stead and enhance his burgeoning reputation.

Last weekend, however, Brown will have experienced arguably the most daunting and challenging experiences of his fledgling career – going toe to toe against Rangers in front of more than 48,000 in a nigh-on packed Ibrox Stadium.

Livingston lost the match 1-0 owing to a Scott Arfield strike, but nevertheless what an experience for Brown and one Cardiff will certainly benefit from in the long term.

He should be in our squad next season instead of Bamba? Harris will give Youth a chance and he is already a Northern Ireland International!

His contract is up at the end of the year. Hopefully he gets it renewed should have been one of the four main squad CB’s instead of wasting millions on an old average player in Flint.

Flint really was such a poor buy.

We should have renewed his contract before sending him out on loan, we could lose him for nothing if someone gives him a better offer?

Flint £5 million fee and goodness what in wages and past his best or Brown free, aged 22 and I doubt too heavy on the payroll?

Flint an absolute shocking waste of money. Quite possibly top of a strong list.

He’s a proven Championship player but too similar to our Captain but a good backup for Morrison while Brown would challenge Nelson so its Bamba to go especially if Warnock gets another club!

I have many times great left sided CB. Fast for his size with a good pass on him. Doesn’t lose many headers either. If we don’t play him he will end up like Ajeyi and eventually end up at a better club than us.

he must have looked half decent for NW to have rescued him from non league, where he must also have stood out against players below this level. but you have to trust those in charge to judge ,they rarely make mistakes and for every Ajeyi there are a thousand released from clubs that do not end up exceeding expectations.

We also let Lockear go and he’s now also playing in the Championship and for Wales, so our Academy have produced three excellent Centre Backs but two were released as not good enough, let’s hope Brown is not the third!

we let Lockyer go 9 years ago. do you think we should keep every single academy player just in case in 9 years time they might be good enough to be 5th choice here. and Ajayi just like Brown are not academy product of ours , both were brought in to boulster the u23s something that has happened for years and will continue..doesn't mean they are all going to be 1st team players.

Surely that’s the job of our Academy/under 23’s staff and Manager to ensure that our best players are developed into first team players! Losing two possibly three Championship players for nothing and replacing them with expensive journeymen is bad business? If you think Lockyer and Ajayi would be fifth choices here but are first choices at WBA and Charlton/Wales you must be having a laugh!

my lockyer comment was about lockyer who plays for Charlton...and paying 9 years in wages to the literally hundreds of released boys who go off to lower/non/welsh lge clubs in the hope one might make it is not for nothing...
