Lee Peltier doing all he can to get West Brom over line

New recruit Lee Peltier says he will be doing everything he can – both on and off the field – to help Albion win promotion to the Premier League.

The defender joined the Baggies on a deal until the end of the season last month after Cardiff agreed to a mutual termination of his contract.

At 33-years-old, Peltier knows all about the demands of the Championship and won promotion with the Bluebirds back in 2018.

And it’s that nous and expertise that the former Liverpool man is eager to add to the group.

“I’ve made my career out of defending – I love defending, that is my game,” Peltier said.

“Tackling, heading, blocking shots and crosses, they are as important to me as a goal is to a striker.

“I love the art of defending and that is what I want to bring to the group."

"I loved my time at Cardiff and their fans were fantastic, I was not in the new Gaffers plans, so it was time to leave."

“The lads here, have obviously done really well so far and the challenge to me was ‘can I help them get over the line?’

“That’s what I have got my mind set on.

“I’ve got experience and I’ve been around the league for a long time.

“I know this division inside out and what it takes to get out of it.

“I can see there are quite a few young lads breaking through but there is always a need for experience as well to help them and that’s what I believe I can provide.”

Asked what a team needs to win promotion, Peltier said: “You need a bit of everything.

I am delighted to be joining such a great club in @WBA , I am excited for the new challenges ahead, thank you for all the

“There are so many ingredients to it.

“You need god characters, players that can score goals, players who can defend and players who can hold their nerve when the going gets tough.

“A lot of those things come from experience.

“I played against Albion in the game at The Hawthorns earlier this season and it was clear they were one of the standout teams in the league.
“The obvious rivals are there. Leeds have been another stand-out team., Fulham are coming good and Brentford have been impressing everyone.

“There’s a handful of other dangers too.

“But that’s another key thing about this division – you have to focus on yourselves and only yourselves.

“Don’t get distracted by all the outside stuff, just concentrate on what you have to do in each game.”

Albion have had a large number of their games moved this season so they can be shown live on Sky.

And Peltier believes – while small – that is the type of change where a team benefits from having senior pros around.

“When teams are playing at different times there is a lot of pressure which can get to you if you let it,” he added.

“You might be playing on a Sunday or a Monday and someone’s win on the Friday or Saturday.

“That’s one of the unique things about this league in – your position can change so much over a weekend.

“That’s why you need everyone to stay calm and focus on what their job is.”

Was always of the opinion we needed a better right back who had a bit more to his game however it’s a no brainer that he is an asset to any championship club as back up or on the bench.

I personally don’t believe we have a better right back at the club.

If we make the playoffs I think his experience would have been invaluable.

hmmm interesting to see NH say, Peltier had the chance at another promotion and maybe premier league football, and wanted to go, and Pelts saying, he wasn't in the new managers plans.

I think what Pelts said us right
and
What NH said is right.

Has he been in a WBA
Matchday squad yet?

A good pro
A Bluebird to be well though of.
