FIFA REVIEWING CORONAVIRUS IMPACT

Monday 16th March 2020

FIFA is reviewing the impact postponed fixtures will have on player contracts and registrations during the coronavirus outbreak.

World football’s governing body is holding talks over the ramifications the coronavirus pandemic will have on football, including players who may be asked to complete domestic seasons out of contract.

Each FIFA member association must define two official registration periods for each season of professional men’s and women’s football.

FIFA spokesperson has told Sky Sports News: “FIFA is analysing the current situation and the potential impact it may have on all areas of football, including player contracts. More information will follow in due course.”

In England and Scotland, the men’s transfer window is scheduled to open on 10 June and close on 1 September, while the women’s transfer window is set to run from June 19 to September 10 in England and July 1 to July 31 in Scotland.

The FA and SFA yet to say whether they intend to change dates of this summer’s transfer windows.
