From the above figs - An 18 and 21 year old have died in the UK - So this is not an older persons virus.

Also 2 prisoners have died in the UK - So No One is safe .

On a brighter note - Dyson have been asked to make 10,000 ventilators .
Gov have scraped Parking tickets on NHS Staff .
Over 504,000 people have signed up to help the NHS .

BREAKING : Self -employed - more to follow .....

Rishi Sunak says self-employed people facing financial difficulties will be able to have 80% of their monthly wages covered by the government.

He says this will be calculated using average monthly profits over last three financial years.

He says support will be capped at £2,500 per month, and will initially last three months.

BREAKING
Sunak: Access to scheme 'no later than June'
Mr Sunak says the scheme will only be open to those who are already self-employed and have a self-assessment tax return for 2019.

It will apply to those with trading profits up to £50,000 a year, he adds.

He says 95% of those who are majority self-employed will benefit.

He says he hopes people will be able to "access" the scheme "no later than June".

Mr Sunak says government support for the self-employed constitutes an "unprecedented level of support".

He says ministers have worked to make sure it is "targeted at those who need it the most".

However, he also has a warning that the government will not be able to “protect every single job or protect every single business".

Also on a Brighter note so far the percentage of people in the country that has died as a result of Coronavirus is 0.000007, which is still too many, some of those people were also ill with underlying health conditions.

It is serious and we need to behave and keep the death toll to a minimum, but let's not overplay it or panic, if eveyone plays their part we will beat this virus!

Police break up groups playing football and rugby in parks in South Wales

Emergency powers to tackle coronavirus set to become law

Thursday 26th March 2020

Media Wales

Police have been breaking up groups playing football and rugby at some of Cardiff's parks.

An eyewitness saw people playing games together at Llandaff Fields being moved on by police officers.

Another reported that at Pentwyn lake, the parks and basketball court were "full of families with children."

And there were reports on social media of large numbers of people at Caedelyn Park in Rhiwbina.

Strict lockdown guidelines set down by Prime Minister Boris Johnson earlier this week forbid groups larger than two people congregating and he said that you should only be leaving home for essential journeys, to exercise once a day, or to go to and from work if you're a key worker.

But there have been reports of groups of people out in the sunshine in Cardiff's parks. Playground areas in the city have been closed, but parks remain open.

South Wales Police said teams were out on foot patrols on Thursday.

They said they were "dispersing any crowds and providing crime prevention advice at a safe distance."

Cardiff is not the only place were crowds have been gathering with people seen on beaches in Wales on Thursday.

People have been congregating on beaches in Swansea and Gower during the coronavirus lockdown.

South Wales Police Chief Constable Matt Jukes said the majority of people are already making "real sacrifices" to save lives and he urged everyone to follow the advice.

He said: “I hope that the vast majority of our communities will recognise the need to comply with new restrictions announced by the Prime Minister based on the severity of the situation.

“South Wales Police has a track record of maintaining public order and safety in huge events and at times of emergency. We have always done so positively, with pride and professionalism."

He added: “So, we will continue to do what we do best – engage with people. We will ask them to support their communities and stick to these important restrictions. As the public would expect, we will also enforce the existing law when this is necessary and new legal powers, as they come into effect.

“My colleagues – the police officers and other staff who you may speak with in the coming weeks - are working to keep you and your families safe and well. They have families to go home to, too. Thank you, in anticipation for your support and cooperation.”

I find those test results very worrying. 9 out of 10 who must have been displaying systems didn't have it which rather assumes their still likely to get it in the future. Makes the claim by Oxford Uni students that 50% of the population may have already had it far less likely. To be honest I thought their claims were our best hope of getting out of this in coming weeks or months.

Spot on they might have been tested at the time and been given the ok - but the more this spreads they like us are still in the firing line .
That's way they want any NHS workers tested each time on shift and who is to say if we get this under control - it wont come back later this year or the start of next ??

depends on how many were actually showing symptoms.. most footballers have been tested whether showing symptoms or not. who else ? think we will have a clearer picture if these test kits that show if you've had it or not work..

Boris Johnson's chief medical officer Chris Whitty is self-isolating after experiencing coronavirus symptoms.

Professor Whitty said that he would be staying at home for the next seven days in a statement on Twitter, posted just hours after the prime minister confirmed that he had tested positive for the COVID-19 disease.

"After experiencing symptoms compatible with COVID-19 last night, in line with the guidance, I will be self-isolating at home for the next seven days," said the professor.

"I will be continuing to advise the government on the medical response to coronavirus, supported by my deputies."
Professor Whitty has been a fixture of the government's daily news briefings on the UK response to the disease, alongside the chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance.

He is the third major figure leading the country's battle against coronavirus to have gone into self-isolation on Friday, following the prime minister and Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

Principality Stadium to become field hospital

The home of Welsh rugby is set to become a field hospital in a bid to deal with coronavirus cases in Cardiff.

The Principality Stadium, which hosts international rugby matches and concerts, will provide up to 2,000 additional beds for the NHS.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said it was difficult to know what the size or scale of the challenges faced by staff would be, but it had acquired the stadium to ease pressure on wards.

The board's chief executive officer Len Richards said: "I sincerely hope we don’t need to use all of the capacity but it is far better to have developed plans upon the scientific evidence and modelling of the experts.

"The facility will allow us to free up capacity at our other hospital sites so that we can continue to provide services to patients with other health conditions."

Martyn Phillips, chief executive of the Welsh Rugby Union, which owns the stadium, said it was a “privilege" to be able to help at a time of national emergency.
