I think he will do it, I know what you mean he did look sheepish though, could he just be concerned from the reaction when the numbers go up? The other two weren't that happy you could see that, they are not sure and will always err on the side of caution if they could?

We have to do it we can't go on like this forever

i think he will do it too.... for how long is the question...
cases go up and with most people think lockdowns and restrictions are the silver bullet because thats what theyve been told for a year and a half... will he/they hold firm when the polls are telling them the public wouldnt mind another lockdown ?

I don't wish to steal anyone's glory, but the so-called science experts have been warning us about viruses/variants mutating for many months.
So whatever Mr Drakeford announces next week, don't throw away your 'facial nappy' just yet!!

Wales has had 1 death in previous 2 weeks and a total of 4 in past 4 weeks with death involving covid but not necessarily the cause of death........ I hope this is the data drakeford is looking at and not the positive cases?

Covid: Self-isolation to be scrapped for double-jabbed and children in England -

Fully vaccinated people in England will not have to self-isolate if a close contact tests positive for Covid from 16 August, the health secretary says.

Sajid Javid told MPs the same policy would also apply to anyone under the age of 18 from that date.

The government would give more details this week on self-isolation rules for international travel, he added.

Meanwhile, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has announced the end of "bubbles" in schools from 19 July.

This system has led to large numbers of pupils being sent home if a single child has a positive test.

Covid-related pupil absence in England has hit a new high since all students returned to school in March - with 640,000 pupils in England not in school due to Covid last week,

On Monday, the prime minister confirmed he intended to scrap most of the remaining restrictions in England on 19 July, including the laws on mask wearing and rules on social distancing.

I think we will see a big spike in England following the Euro success, not so much from the Wembley crowd but the travel to and from and the meeting in pubs or houses, three big games in succession and mass drinking, let's hope it's not enough to slow things down?

Maybe it's already started and partly responsible for this doubling every nine days?

Hopefully it shouldn't affect Wales as much, other than the tourist spots will take a hit in the summer holidays.

Covid-19: Amber list quarantine for fully vaccinated to end on 19 July -

Fully vaccinated UK residents arriving in England from amber travel list destinations will no longer have to quarantine from 19 July.

However, they will still need to pay for Covid tests before and after their return, the transport secretary said.

Grant Shapps told MPs that under-18s returning from amber list places would also be exempt from quarantine.

Travel industry leaders said the change was a "positive step" but called for the amber list to be expanded.

Currently, anyone returning from countries on the amber or red list must isolate for 10 days, regardless of vaccine status.

Mr Shapps said a full vaccination means "14 days have passed since your final dose of the vaccine" - and only vaccines given by the NHS will count.

The Welsh government says it is considering whether it will follow a move to allow fully vaccinated adults in England to return from amber list countries without needing to isolate.

In recent months the Welsh and UK governments' international travel policies have been similar.

Covid in Wales: Face masks to stay but no decision on shops -

Face masks will continue to be required by law in some places in Wales as long as Covid remained a threat, the Welsh government has said.

It said if Wales moved from alert level one to zero, coverings would still be mandatory on public transport and in health and social care settings.

It added a decision was yet to be made on mandating face masks in shops.

In England, wearing a mask will no longer be legally required in most places from 19 July.

Covid: Call for Wales to follow England's quarantine travel rules -

Travel agents and tour operators in Wales want the Welsh government to follow England and adopt the same rules affecting international travellers.

UK residents who have had both doses of the Covid vaccine returning from amber list destinations will no longer have to isolate in England from 19 July.

But Health Minister Eluned Morgan said she was concerned new Covid variants could come into the UK from abroad.

He said over weeks ago masks are here to stay until end of year so nothing new? It is going to get messy with drakeford continuing to be weeks behind rest uk with policies for covid but guess he's not bothered as long as he looks good to his cronies in labour party..

Will WG take any notice of experts?
Wales should now lift all Covid restrictions, a leading expert on infectious diseases has said.
Latest data from Public Health Wales show Covid case rates in Wales are at 127 cases per 100,000 people below other UK nations and most English regions. Also The number of people admitted to hospital with Covid also remained close to record low levels, with the number of those in critical care also very low.

there are a group of people who are quite enjoying an extended 15 minutes of fame.... and another group who have picked up some pretty good jobs in the last year or so.... so the answer is not until every number reads zero .... even the suspected covids { notice how this has crept in } are zero...

Covid lockdown in Wales: 'Time to end all restrictions' -

Wales should now lift all Covid restrictions, a leading expert on infectious diseases has said.

The success of vaccinations and immunity levels meant it was safe to end lockdown, said Welsh and UK government advisor Prof John Watkins.

He said the link between cases, hospitalisations and deaths had "definitely" been broken.

Senior Welsh officials have said while the link is weaker, it has not been eradicated.

There are also concerns young people are not coming forward for vaccines as the rollout continues.

On Monday Boris Johnson announced almost all legal Covid-19 restrictions would end in England on 19 July, meaning those across the border will no longer be required by law to social distance or wear face masks.

Covid: Plans for fewer rules in Wales to be revealed -

The extent Wales will go to in scrapping coronavirus restrictions will be announced on Wednesday.

Ministers are expected to settle on their plans for reducing the legal rules that have governed businesses and social contact during the pandemic.

But First Minister Mark Drakeford has said he will not abandon them "wholesale".

His government has already announced face masks will continue to be required on public transport.

It is not expected Mr Drakeford will move as fast as the UK government, with Boris Johnson planning to scrap most rules in England on 19 July.

The Scottish government is hoping it can lift most legal restrictions on 9 August, but has said it will keep laws on the use of face masks for some time.

Despite rising cases in Wales, officials believe the vaccination programme has weakened the link between catching Covid, serious illness and death.

Covid: Fully jabbed arrivals from France must still quarantine -

Fully jabbed travellers returning to England and Wales from France will still have to quarantine from Monday.

From 19 July, adults who have been double jabbed in the UK arriving from amber list countries will not need to isolate for 10 days.

Covid: UK daily cases pass 50,000 for first time since January -

More than 50,000 daily coronavirus cases have been reported in the UK for the first time since mid-January.

There were 51,870 cases recorded - the highest figure since 15 January - and 49 deaths within 28 days of a positive test.

From Monday, lockdown rules will end in England - although some guidance will remain.

Earlier, England's chief medical officer warned hospital admissions could hit "scary numbers".

Prof Chris Whitty said the number of people in hospital with Covid was doubling roughly every three weeks.

19 July: England Covid restrictions ease as PM urges caution -

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged caution as most legal restrictions on social contact are lifted in England.

There are now no limits on how many people can meet or attend events, nightclubs reopened at midnight, and table service will not be necessary in pubs and restaurants.

Face coverings will be recommended in some spaces, but not required by law.

Vaccine Minister Nadhim Zahawi said he would make an announcement on vaccinating 12 to 17-year-olds later.

The PM, chancellor and the health secretary are self-isolating, and there are warnings cases will surge.

Some scientists are predicting that UK infections - currently at about 50,000 a day - could reach 200,000 a day later in the summer.

But with more than 68% of UK adults fully vaccinated modelling suggests hospital admissions, serious illness and deaths from Covid-19 will be at a lower level than in earlier peaks.

I know it's not easy for boris to get things right with covid but lately hes making a balls up of things? Firstly should never have removed mandatory face masks simply because young people who have not be vaccinated wont have jab why should they when everything is open? Now he's saying no double vaccination no entry into night clubs from sept? Ffs suppose to have experts helping him to get it right but it was blatantly obvious what would happen.. :banghead:

Yrs, but the reality is that those double vaccinated are less likely to contract or transmit to the same levels as those who are not double vaccinated

Notwithstanding some people are simply unable to receive tgeir jabs for medical reasons, those who choose not to have them are at best unhelpful to the situation and maybe potentially culpable for keeping the serious cases unnecessarily high

"Potentially culpable"....interesting use of words there Chris......I can't remember you stating that to people who chose not to have the influenza jab when offered, even though influenza is a killer, and not just to the old and vulnerable but to all ages. where does this potentially culpable start and end .... ? its take your pick to suit your views.....how about going through airports and jumping on cramped planes all while wearing a joking mask not fit for purpose that has more to do with fashion than effectiveness...? as for figures they change constantly ... more double jabbed in hospital than un jabbed.... cases amongst the jabbed up 40% in a week and likely to overtake the unjabbed { down 22% } in the next few days.... and what ever happened to these vaccines being the magic bullet...

Just accept it fellas. Vaccine passports were always likely to be on the long term agenda whether we like it or not.
It appears sporting crowds of 20,000 plus may soon need the passport.
I'm sure Mr Drakeford will be naming a figure much lower than 20,000 as the positive cases increase effecting both Cardiff and Swansea.
If you haven't had your double jab, it could be a long and boring time ahead!

thin end of the wedge..

Maybe but a bit of common sense would tell him if people dont need to be vaccinated they wont be.... cannot have potentially millions of unvaccinated people running around potentially giving covid without realizing it especially as was avoidable ...but live and learn

trouble is double vaccinated people can run around giving covid without realising it too.....

Yrs, but the reality is that those double vaccinated are less likely to contract or transmit to the same levels as those who are not double vaccinated

Notwithstanding some people are simply unable to receive tgeir jabs for medical reasons, those who choose not to have them are at best unhelpful to the situation and maybe potentially culpable for keeping the serious cases unnecessarily high

where does this potentially culpable start and end .... ? its take your pick to suit your views.....how about going through airports and jumping on cramped planes all while wearing a joking mask not fit for purpose that has more to do with fashion than effectiveness...? as for figures they change constantly ... more double jabbed in hospital than un jabbed.... cases amongst the jabbed up 40% in a week and likely to overtake the unjabbed { down 22% } in the next few days.... and what ever happened to these vaccines being the magic bullet...

Big mistake here.
Over half of people in the UK being admitted to hospital with the coronavirus are unvaccinated, Sir Patrick Vallance (pictured) has clarified. He originally said 60 per cent of hospital admissions were people who received both jabs, when speaking at a No10 press conference last night. But he later tweeted to say the statistic was false, with the number actually applying to unvaccinated people

Thanks, Rog. Part of the problem is people not understanding the huge reduction in death rates; although some are arguing tgat most of tge 'weak' have already succumbed to it

What an attitude...

"Potentially culpable"....interesting use of words there Chris......I can't remember you stating that to people who chose not to have the influenza jab when offered, even though influenza is a killer, and not just to the old and vulnerable but to all ages. It's funny how the goalposts keep moving. :bluebird:

Jim, as usual you put it so well...

My choice of wording was a little deliberate, if maybe only to make the point that there are more good reasons to have the vaccine than not

You may be (probably are) correct on the 'flu comments (ironically I have that annually) but right or wrong on that, we are currently dealing with Covid-19 at both its infancy and likely peak

First time I've mentioned this but I am one of tge Long Covid suffers and it has hit me for six. Some of the downsides as it continues to affect me 9 months after having the actual virus are pretty scary and have affected many aspects of a usually fit and active work and social life in ways that have only strengthened my view that everyone who is able should have the vaccines as soon as they can

Of course views will differ; but from which point? A view point of experience or a view point of 'I think'?; the latter of which is something we often laud as a dangerous thing :laughing6:
