Having watched this. I believe Mark Drakeford has called it right to extend the lockdown.
This is heart warming and f*cking frightening.

Second virus wave may be more severe than first, England’s chief medical officer warns
Professor Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer for England.

Professor Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer for England.

A second wave of coronavirus could be “more severe” than the first and may spread more rapidly if it arrives in winter, England’s chief medical officer has warned.

Every country seeking to ease lockdown measures now must negotiate an “extremely difficult balancing act” to keep the pandemic under control, Professor Chris Whitty said in an online Gresham College lecture.

In particular, the virus reproduction “R” number must be kept below one – meaning each infected person could expect to pass it to fewer than one other person on average.

We'd be fucked when referring to a, serious second wave.

Covid-19 exit plan set for Friday publication

The Welsh Government hopes to publish its coronavirus exit plan on Friday, the first minister has said.

Mark Drakeford told the virtual session of the Senedd the plan was "being worked on".

"I want it to be clear and I want it to be readily understood by the readership of the Welsh public," he said.

Mr Drakeford was answering a question from Conservative leader in the Welsh Parliament, Paul Davies.

Welsh ministers have been facing calls to spell out plans for moving out of lockdown after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his proposals, which are mainly for England.

Latest death figures for England, Scotland and Wales

We now have the latest figures for the number of people who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in England, Scotland and Wales.

In England a further 90 people have died, taking the total number of deaths in hospitals there to 24,617
In Scotland, there have been a further nine deaths, taking the total to 2,103
In Wales, there have been a further 12 deaths, taking the total to 1,203
Figures for Scotland and Wales are mostly hospital deaths.

UK-wide figures published by the Department of Health - which use a different timeframe to those of individual nations and also include deaths in the community and care homes - will be published later.

Well done people of the UK and the government

Those figures are dropping massively due to our lockdown compliance and social distancing

At this point in the pandemic 2 weeks ago both Spain and Italy were well over 250 deaths a day, the fact we have less shows full lockdowns were not needed and the government seem to be right about this.

They deserve some credit now as numbers are consistently coming down

I totally disagree with you Thomas, and believe the Uk could of saved thousands of lives and hopefully I am proved totally wrong and they have the least deaths.

Italy and Spain, most elderly people in Europe, two thirds live in flats and congregated areas etc etc

Plus at least two weeks ahead.

Uk had way more time to prepare, but sat back.

That's fine

But when looking at numbers people should look at them all not just the deaths which are appalling right across Europe not just the UK.

Per capita The UK is nowhere near the worst and is fairing better than a lot of other European countries

We only have 10,000 more cases than Spain even though our population is 25million more

Everyone keeps saying we are two weeks behind Spain and Italy . Well two weeks ago neither of those countries had as low numbers as the UK are currently getting so we must be doing something right even without the total lockdown.

The British papers have been showing a small minority of people breaking lockdown rules in certain areas without comparing it to other countries . Spain for example have issued over 800,000 lockdown fines to its residents. Italy over 350,000 fines but none of that is shown to us. We get shown our 14000 fines and it makes us look awful until you see other countries. But that's down to other countries being a lot tougher and our police being useless. Did they really need to be given how the numbers are looking now?

Italy only added care homes to the daily deaths recently and Spain only did it from 23rd April without back dating the weeks and weeks before that so I would expect thousands to be added to both those totals in the future.

Like you said we wont agree but I try and look at the whole picture not just concentrate on the UK to see how we have done.
I do agree we could have acted quicker and that was the government and scientists big mistake

Loss of smell and taste added to UK symptoms list

Loss of smell or taste has now been added to the official list of symptoms that may indicate Covid-19 in the UK.

Until now, people were only advised to self-isolate to prevent the spread of infection based on their symptoms if they had a fever or a cough.

But ear, nose and throat doctors had been warning for weeks that more symptoms should be included.

Earlier, we reported one scientific expert warning that the UK may be missing up to 70,000 coronavirus infections because it was focusing only on fever and coughing.
