Jail them

Sun Mar 29, 2020 5:11 pm

People in Avon have been arrested for spitting and pretending to sneeze at heath workers and police. Don't piss about, jail them and put them in quarantine until the coronavirus is sorted. May stop others copying these pricks.

Coronavirus: Man who spat at police jailed for 12 months

A man who spat at two police officers while claiming to have coronavirus symptoms has been jailed for 12 months.

Paul Leivers, from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

But Nottinghamshire Police said he did not have coronavirus and their officers were "safe and well".

The force called his behaviour "despicable and appalling" and thanked the judge for sending "a loud and clear" message.

Leivers was sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday - three days after he was arrested.

District Judge Leo Pyle said: "It was in the public interest to deal with the matter sooner rather than later and the court will not flinch to protect officers."
The Director of Public Prosecutions warned that anyone using coronavirus to threaten emergency workers faced serious charges.

"The prosecutor in this case highlighted the serious danger caused by the defendant's behaviour and the impact of the threat of transmitting the virus on the victims and their service," said Karen Thompson, from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

"The court agreed it was a serious aggravating feature in the case, which is reflected in the deterrent sentence handed down."

She said the CPS viewed offences of this nature "extremely seriously" especially at a time "our emergency services are needed more than ever".

The maximum sentence for each offence under the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018 is six months in jail at magistrates' courts.

Police in Swansea say they have seized "yet another vehicle" while stopping drivers to check whether their journey was essential.

Under current restrictions, people may only leave home to exercise once a day, travel to and from work when it is "absolutely necessary", shop for essential items and fulfil any medical or care needs.

The force tweeted to say a vehicle had been seized this morning after the driver was found to have drugs, no insurance, no MOT and no licence.

"Not essential travel," the force tweeted, calling for people to stay at home.

Of course you will have the usual suspects saying that Britain is becoming a police state and I'm wondering have any of these snowflakes have actually lived in a real police state

UK man charged after allegedly wiping spit on food

A man has been charged after allegedly wiping his saliva on food products in a supermarket in Dorset, in south-west England.

The 20-year-old wore a face mask and gloves when entering the Lidl store in Bridport on Friday afternoon, police said.

He was then seen licking his fingers before "purposefully" rubbing them onto an item in the store, they said.

The man was arrested and charged with an offence of contaminating or interfering with goods with intent. He is due to appear in court on Monday.

Police said the suspect was not displaying any symptoms of Covid-19.
