I must say i find it all a bit puzzling. Did he fall out with DJ? Was he on a stupid PR contract? Any one care to enlighten the facts?

We wanted him off the wage bill. Leeds wouldn't pay him the 8k he's already on.
City took a lower fee and the rest went towards Ross's wages.

That's my theory anyway.

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

300k and still only club that best club he could get was Leeds 8-)

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:46 pm

he'll struggle to get in the team at Leed too - that's the irony.

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

like bollocks he'll struggle to get into that Leeds team. People have such a short memory the guy is sheer class. Twice the all round player that Chopra is

His scoring record isnt good enough, he is over weight, getting pissed and drink driving, no wonder DJ has fallen out with him. Even his best season his scoring record was build up with pens. His overal play is decent but I dont see any place for him in the team anymore. Wide we have Bellamy, Burke, Koumas, Witts, upfront we have Jay, Keogh, Bellamy and in 8-10 weeks Chops back.

If he is as good as you think why was the best club he could get Leeds? and thats even when we are only asking for a minimal fee of 300k?

I wish him luck but im hardly gutted he is leaving. Onwards and upwards

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

The low fee for Ross is probably something to do with the sell on clause re Motherwell.
Anyway I for one will miss Ross, never once did he let us down on the pitch!
Good luck Ross I hope you score a bucket full of goals this season, but none against us!

Nah, don't think so :) . He's a very good player though but not in the same class as Chops and I am sorry to see him go. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

No chance Chops runs rings around him his 2 penalty misses at the end of the season before last cost us the playoffs and possible promotion.

I'm sorry to see him go, but he was on a rocky road to ruin.

He's a good player, but never worth £3 million plus. Should have taken any offer that came in last year, but didn't. He'll do ok at weeds.

fantastic signing for leeds i just hope larry gives him the playing time as we have a good squad building up at the mo snodgrass is due back paynter is not far off as well paddy kisnorbo is back in dec gradels ban is over somma is scoring well and now we've got ross happy days indeed..

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

The move is right for Ross and City. There is no way any club would pay much more than £300k for someone who clearly has issues outside of football. He isn't anywhere near as fit as he was and until he gets to that level, and sorts out his drinking, he would get very little game time.

I like Ross but even I couldn't claim he has done much over the last 12-15 months. It started with his injury at the start of last season and his problems seemed to go on from there.

He hasn't contributed much coming on as a sub and even when DJ gave him a chance in an important game like away to QPR last season he simply looked out of it, it took Chopra coming on as sub after an hour to turn the game. Keogh looked a class act when he came on against Pompey so I'm more than happy with the changes.

I hope Ross gets back to where he was but he will need to take a long hard look at himself if he is going to do that.

Ross has potential but he has thrown alot of that away in the last season. In his first season with us he could quite easily pass defenders. Last season, excluding the first 2 games before his injury, he could not outpace a donkey. This could be because of the injury or his off field activities. To get any of this back he needs a move away with someone willing to take a gamble and give him first team experience. I feel Leeds are taking a gamble here.

leeds must be laughing their heads off at us, dont think he got on with d j, but £300,000 is a joke, he will prove all the doubters wrong, good luck ross, but please not against us

But is Ross being a piss head and that's putting it lightly is that DJs fault ? I have always liked Ross but if he has to fight for his place he hasn't got the right attitude. He did look a tad overweight but i wish him the best but i do wish he had gone out on loan and if he regained his form we could of had him back. But i am not DJs biggest fan but this isn't his fault in my opinion.

I agree :ayatollah:

It's easy to always blame the manager but Ross has to take some responsibility himself, especially for the off-field incidents that are a fairly common sight for anyone who drinks in town  It's OK for us but we're not professional sportsmen on £8k per week.

Sometimes a move is just what's needed, let's hope for Ross's sake that is the case here.

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

I have a sneaky feeling that he will play a blinder against us and our pedestrian central defenders will be finding it a long afternoon trying to mark him, he has a big point to prove, he will want to prove Jonesy and the messageboarders that doubted his talent that they were wrong.

Re: ROSS MCCORMACK

There's no doubt he has the ability, but his attitude seems to stink.

We've brought in better players. Players come and go, it's football. He'll do ok up there if he screws the nut, but that's for Leeds to worry about. Meanwhile, we've a championship to go and win so lets get behind the boys that are here and forget about those who are elsewhere.
