Bit dozy fans getting involved these days.

our bus was driving past the good companion after the ground and we spotted 12 pompey fans kicking the shit out of two old merthyr (late 50's) who were just walking back to their parked car.
our bus stopped and intervened as other buses drove by.
severe retribution was handed out to the guilty parties.
the one merthy man was being treated for concussion at the scene and one of our lads was nicked.
nobody condones the violence but sheer bullying is not to be allowed or ignored by whoever.
in all my years of travelling with the city i have never seen bullying of the like youngsters against near pensioners.
sometimes alfie you dont look the other way when occassions like this happen it dosent make you a knob

What brave sods would attack a opposition fan when they've got kids with them? If this is the new breed of hooligan they're nothing but cowardly tossers.Funny how they did'nt seem so brave at Wembley when the place was swarming with City.

none of this reported by the press yet. Surely any football related violence involving Cardiff should have made it by now.

We drove past this big bald pompey fan . And by the look of things he got the absolute shit beaten out off him

I went on one of the supporters coach and while leaving witnessed a small scuffle. Quite entertaining in a way, a situation where the police should cordon of the 2 idiots and let the rest of us enjoy the show. Both participants were absolutley knackered after they threw their first punch which both missed their targets by the way.
While I was waiting for our coach to leave outside the ground I saw aload of police running towards a situation a bit further up the road. I did not see what was going on but presumed the worse. My immediate thoughts were that once again the police have got this wrong. A police presence usually stop any naughty stuff, well usally this applies to normal thinking citizens. So either the police got there policing wrong or there are football fans with lower IQs than what I thought possible.

I've already posted on a seperate post steve that if you/your mates/family are attacked, then you should do whatever it takes to defend yourself.
The point I was originally making was that we also have more than our share of dickheads who will kick things off too. Now if this wasn't the case yesterday ( tbf I wasnt at Pompey) then I take it back but over many years of watching the City, home and away I also know that we have a large section of fans that I wouldn't choose to go on holiday with !
Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:12 am
i also witnessed this, a large group of pompey lads were attacking small pockets of innocent fans including familys, kids and pensioners
then a bus full of cardiff fans stopped and handed out a very brutal punishment, which i must admit was well deserved
karma
Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:22 am
The police should have never let the fans mingle after the game

I have no idea what exactly happened today, but after experiencing that wonderful day at Wembley 2 years ago it saddens me that this has happened between the supporters of 2 great working class clubs.
That said my main point is I wonder how your actions Steve could be perceived by the authorities. We are told we are turning into a 'walk on by' society where there is a failure of the general public to intervene against criminal activity, especially in the case of violence against the person.
Again if people are going to get arrested for trying to stop an assault against elderly people by a gang of younger thugs, then surly the authorities must understand why there is a reluctance 'to get involved?'
The point is instead of arresting your friend surly the Police should have been applauding him if they wanted the public to get more involved in stopping crime?

tony
the police in reality were good as gold as soon as they spent half an hour talking to the locals and getting statements they allowed us to leave without any further problems.
our guy arrested was released late last night with a caution which shows you which way the police saw it.
I understand your point about not intervening but if somebody does not take the chance like our bus did where does it stop.
hopefully yesterdays events will put paid to those pompey cowards antics for the near future.
as the man from tesco said "every little helps"

I wasnt at Portsmouth so I cannot comment about the days events but this is typical of modern day society and the attitudes of some people at football, but these people are not directly to blame. I do however blame it on the media and entertainment industry, especially with the hooligan films that have been made in recent years that have glorified a problem which arguably was almost eradicated from British football. The major problem we have is kids turning up at football stadiums across the country having watched these films and documentaries and read books regarding football hooliganism (I would like to say I mean no disrespect to Annis or any other author as I know they deal with facts and try not to glorify hooliganism) and they have no understanding of the risks involved in participating in trouble at football i.e. banning orders, fines and time in prison, also feeling that every supporter who dares to turn up at any stadium is fair game to these kids regardless of wether they meet other trouble makers or respectable supporters. I feel these kids need a leash tied around their neck and taught that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable especially when it comes to putting innocent supporters safety at risk.
