Minutes of Cardiff City Board Meeting 1st January 2010
Attendees:
All present accept TG who is on holiday in Portsmouth
1. Previous meeting minutes
Accepted
2. Football Matters
Does it anymore?
3. Catering/Compass Contract
The burgers and meat pies made from the turkey unused from the postponed Leicester match were very popular at the Plymouth game.
4. New Media and Press Appointment
The consensus was that this was a great success as the government, the bank, the Malaysian investors and the fans think that we are in good financial shape
5. Football Club Secretary
The decision on whether to appoint a replacement for Jason Turner was deferred for a month since it was not sure that we would have many more fixtures to organize anyway. The new club shop manager will continue to stand in for Mr. Turner as we are awaiting the receipt of the new stock from Malaysia
6. House of Sport
Plans are well advanced with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council over the relocation of the Ystrad Leisure centre to Leckworth. Shortly we will be asking supporters to dismantle the building, transport it Cardiff (by train if necessary) and rebuilt it before Cardiff Council spots where it has come from
7. First Team Transport to a away matches
The chairman has successfully negotiated with National Express a discounted scheme of 50 GBP each way if we can fill the whole bus otherwise they will allow other fare paying passengers aboard which may mean extra stops.
8. Financial Report
After the fantastic response to the latest season ticket scheme (Thank you Dave Jones) we now only need to raise an extra 7.5 GBP million to get through the rest of the reason. This will be covered in the following way:
• Sale of Adam Matthews to Man Utd for 2.5 million cash
• Sale of Michael Chopra to Newcastle for 1 million cash
• Sale of Ross McCormack to Celtic for 950,000 cash (plus train ticket)
• Agreement with Cardiff Blues to use our new underground heating for next 20 years for 50,000
• FA Cup run to the quarter finals with away games at Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea - 3 million
9. Any other business
Stadium Naming Rights. No offers have been received although the chairman did suggest renaming it, temporarily, to the PR stadium so that the whole world could see how great a job he has done in the current world financial crisis
10. Next Meeting
In a months time - somewhere under a rainbow.
