Greece suspends Qatar flights after 12 passengers test positive

Greece has suspended all flights coming from Qatar until 15 June after 12 passengers on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Athens tested positive for Covid-19.

All 91 passengers were tested. Nine of those found to be positive were Pakistani nationals with Greek residence permits, all coming from the city of Gujrat. Two were Greek nationals from Australia and one was a Japanese national.

According to the current protocol for those entering the country by air, all passengers were transported after the inspection to quarantine hotels until the test results were completed.

The passengers who tested positive will remain isolated there for 14 days.

Those who tested negative will be isolated for seven days. At the end of the seven days they will be tested again before being released.

Add Holland to the list -

UK and Sweden remain on Netherlands' 'banned' list

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the UK and Sweden remain on the country's "banned list" of destinations for visitors from the Netherlands, because of the risk of contracting coronavirus.

Rutte told reporters: "The message is, we do not want British people and Swedes here at the moment. If they do come, they will have to go into quarantine for two weeks."

From June 15, people from the Netherlands can visit 12 countries, including Germany, Belgium, Italy, Croatia and the Dutch ABC islands in the Caribbean.

The decision was determined by the level of containment and infection that exists in each country.

"The health risks have to be the same as they are here," he said.

Other European nations, such as Spain and France, will be added to the list of countries if they formally lift restrictions on tourists from the Netherlands.

Britain is facing a quarantine backlash as France, Germany, Greece and Spain have said they will restrict UK residents entering as they reopen after lockdown - unless the UK drops its quarantine or reduces its coronavirus infection rates.

EU puts 13 UK airports on 'high risk' list

An EU aviation body has placed 13 UK airports on a list of “high-risk” transport hubs, yet only two from France.

The list, put together by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), highlights the airports from which aircraft should be subject to heightened disinfection.

However, some countries, including Greece and the Netherlands, are using the list to inform travel restrictions and other measures on arrivals, which the EASA has spoken out against.

And there was me thinking there were no borders in the EU. I wouldnt trust the covid figures on covid I was the Greek tourist minister. Maybe we should should all stay at home this summer and help local business instead.
There are quite a number of people I know who now check the country of manufacture - if it says China - it goes back on the shelf.
