WAG Economics Minister

Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:50 pm

Just seen part of his interview on the news. OMG. Yet another idiot. Towed the party line by saying we are led by the science and we are driving the R rate down and look at things by law every 3 weeks. Says we are not behind England and says although retailers have been told to get ready he confirmed they are not ready to tell them when to open. In the meantime the economy continues to suffer. And now he and Sturgeon want furlough to continue after a October. No no no. At that rate it will be holiday until Xmas. We need to get back to work. Schools need to go back. I despair with our Government.

I seen him .. asking the UK government to extend furlough while England are doing all they can to get people working again and their economy up and running... plus lots of doom and gloom predictions regarding unemployment...

Easy to spend money when you are not responsible for getting it back.

Someone needs to ask him the question - if the WAG had tax raising powers (god forbid) - and the WAG had to find the money and be responsible for getting it back and balancing the books etc - would he still want furlough to continue - or would he be trying to get things slowly back to the new normal.

He wont care about unemployment either - as again that is paid by Westminster. He will also use the argument that unemployment is caused by Westminster not Cardiff Bay.

The most worrying thing about wag politicians, is that they appear to have a lack of confidence in themselves, and the wag apparatus itself. There’s no confidence.

There is a massive conflict of interest, keep people furloughed for ever, not a problem Westminster pays and has to pick up the pieces, and it keeps more people out of the hospital with Covid-19 and saves the Welsh Health Budget.

Open up the economy and see an increase in hospital admissions, this comes out of the Welsh Health budget, so Labour will do what Labour does, sod the economy we'll sort it out in the future from the magic money tree.

The whole of the WAG is a waste of time

Uninspiring, dithering, unable to make decisions etc, etc, etc

Drakeford and his cronies will cost the country thousands of job losses

The guy is incompetent and not fit for purpose

It's quite worrying the way they are dealing with making decisions.

Today the spokeswoman said they will reopen some holiday venues with the consent of local communities (as Drakeford also said previously) !! Why ? They also said they would make decisions based on science, are these communities all scientists !!?? It's a bizarre approach.

They won't set dates for reopening parts of the economy because they are following the R rate. Well why don't they just say it will open on a set date as long as the R rate is below a certain figure :?

It's not exactly rocket science and allows us all a degree of planning and hope. It might even have the effect of increasing compliance if people know there is an end game.

All very strange.

yep, we are following the science but feel free to not follow if you do not like it...
