There seems to be a huge misunderstanding regarding taking the knee. Even the goverment don't know, but that doesn'r surprise me.
Here's why.
In 1965, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. took a knee during a march in Selma, Alabama. He knelt down and led the protester in prayer on Feb. 1, 1965 outside the Dallas County Alabama Courthouse, along with several other civil rights marchers.
The march, held over the right to vote, and prayer occurred after the group of about 250 was arrested for parading without a permit. It is Dr King's actions that have been copied by athletes and now footballers.
They were protesting for something as elementary as the right to vote!
