Videos have emerged this morning of protesters clashing with officers, who have now started to kettle people in the square.

Greater Glasgow police also announced this morning they have temporarily imposed powers that allow them to search any person or vehicle in the greater area of the city.

Black Lives Matter protestors are preparing to march on UK cities for the fourth consecutive weekend as scuffles break out in Glasgow.

Police are expecting crowds of anti-racism demonstrators to take to the streets in London as well as cities including Birmingham.


Organisers said the Say No to Racism event is aimed at 'sending a positive anti-racist message from Glasgow's George Square to the world on World Refugee Day'.

Supporters include Stand Up To Racism, Glasgow Campaign to Welcome Refugees, Positive Action in Housing, Afghan Human Rights Foundation and unions.


Arrivals included members of the Green Brigade, linked to Celtic ultras.

Forces have warned against violence and urged crowds to follow social distancing rules introduced at the height of the pandemic.

Twenty-four people have been charged with offences in connection with the BLM protests and far-Right counter-demonstrations across the UK. Ten have been charged in relation to protests in London over the past three weekends.



Attendees were asked to wear masks, adhere to two-metre distancing rules and not to travel farther than public health advice allows.

On Friday night, Police Scotland, Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf and the head of Glasgow City Council called on the public not to gather at the location.

Clashes have broken out over recent weeks at the square, including violent scenes from a far-Right group on Wednesday.

Chief Superintendent Hazel Hendren of Greater Glasgow said: 'The disgraceful scenes we have witnessed in George Square are completely unacceptable and a robust policing response is in place for anyone intent on causing violent disruption.'

'Please do not come to George Square tomorrow.'

At least six people were arrested on Wednesday following scenes labelled 'disgraceful' by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Met Police Commander for Specialist Crime Alex Murray revealed that over 100 officers have been assaulted since the end of May.


Assistant chief constable Bernard Higgins said Police Scotland is 'absolutely committed to respecting people's rights to freely and peacefully express their views'.

Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken said: 'Please do not come to George Square tomorrow - you will put yourself and others at risk.

'We are at a crucial point in our journey out of lockdown and it remains the case that it is still not safe to gather in large crowds.

'I understand that many will want to make their voices heard. But, for now, I urge you to find alternative means of doing so.'

It comes as Met Police Commander for Specialist Crime, Alex Murray, revealed that over 100 officers have been assaulted since the end of May.

Police have also urged people not to protest during the pandemic, while lockdown rules still prevent mass gatherings in England.

Ahead of protests in London today, Commander Murray said: 'I really hope we're not going to see what we saw last weekend or the weekend before.

'We don't have any information there's anyone from the Right wing attending but we have got information that large crowds of people will be attending.'

In the UK capital, monuments including the statue of Winston Churchill were boarded up after his plinth was defaced.

Though the covers have been removed, police have no plans to position large numbers of officers around them to protect them.

Commander Murray added: 'We won't have pre-prepared cordons around statues, but we will act on intelligence and information and if we hear something like that is planned then we would act as the public would expect us to.

'The police have never asked for those statues to be protected.

'That's a matter for the local authority. Our focus is on reducing violence and protecting the public, protecting citizens.

'But we will also investigate if criminal damage takes place. So we will prevent violence and we'll also try to prevent criminal damage.'

A peaceful protest is understandable ( but not with virus still very active) but the more these moronic, anti establishment anarchists riot, destroy, vandalised and assault (black & white) they lose all public support from law abiding Joe public hence achieving nothing and creating a bigger wedge in society. Searching ‘Black Lives Matter UK’ on GoFundMe reveals more than 200 separate appeals in addition to the one that has raised £1 million, so vetting every one of them may take some time.

So who is behind the group? And how were those who dreamt up its policy goals appointed?

Bizarrely, Black Lives Matter UK is entirely anonymous, offering no transparency on who controls it or where its money will be spent.

Despite having existed since July 2016, when its Twitter and Facebook accounts were created, it has no physical address or website. It has no formal governing structure or constitution, no chief executive, chairman or board of trustees. It is not registered as a charity or as a non-profit organisation. It has never filed accounts and its spending has never been audited.

Protest in normal times peacefully, fine

But in a pandemic with thousands upon thousands of ordinary folk losing there lives (black, white & brown)

Is a shameful, not caring thumbs up to the system, ordinary folk act of utter shame and disregard for others

Folk were unable to hug loved ones in there last moments, NHS lives lost trying to help

Yet these anarchists, as for me a majority of them are can group up, protest, hurt officers

And very soon the NHS staff, who they seem to have zero respect for

may well be the ones trying to save there lives if the virus spreads to them

NHS putting there own lives at risk, and at risk because of these clowns

But moreso, the blame has to be with the government and there pathetic weakness in being strong

Ladies and Gents and others, may I introduce you to a Mr David Wilks-Carmichael, he is the sole Director listed on Companies House of Black Lives Matter Ltd, it's not a registered charity but a normal limited company. I imagine the idiots that have funded BLM on go fund me are paying directly to this company, he can therefore pay himself from the proceeds. Can't tell if the funds go to this company, but either way if not, I imagine this joker is setting up something similar by way of a funding page. This company by the way was set up rather enterprisingly on the 8th June, just as things were warming up in full swing for BLM

Interesting also is that BLM being avowed anti white boy capitalism in general should have someone like Mr Wilks Carmichael needing a limited company, and that this same fellow has at various times had 17 differently Directorships of different companies, you can see them here if you want to verify:

From what I can see none of these 17 companies has ever filed accounts, and therefore presumably no tax returns, so whatever money has come into these, he's likely scarpered off with. I think he's dissolving these companies right at the point of filing dates.

Odder still is that such an anti capitalist lists his occupation in many of these companies as a 'Venture Capital Consultant', how street can you get.

BLM website takes you to BluDems if you are donating. If you follow the links all the way to payment in very small print it says BluDems is the campaign funding of American Democrats. This is on the USA site and I suspect also on every other BLM website.

For those who care to look into it, it seems Ferguson's brother in the US has raised millions through subscriptions aside from what's going to the Dems.
