'Nine substitutes named on a team sheet should stay'

Verdict on the new rules, drink break, five subs:

Harris: “The nine substitutes named on a team sheet should stay.

“It’s a squad game. One, then five, then seven, now nine. Everyone is clamouring to get involved.

“Make it a 20-man squad. The drinks breaks have been important at the moment.

“I wouldn’t expect to see them staying.

“Five subs might be one to consider, we need to get through the next month or so.”

Quite like the 5 subs, allows for a lot more tactical flexibility and means a team can change gear in a game more effectively.
However, clearly it will benefit the big teams more, with their deeper squads. For us, it will be a huge advantage over the coming weeks as we do have fantastic competition for places in centre mid, centre defence and wingers. Not many teams have two quality wingers on both flanks.

Hoillett and Murphy on the left
Mendez and Adomah on the right. Those are super options that will keep us fresh going forward and will suit our counter-attacking gameplan. :ayatollah:

Why not go the whole hog and have a 22 man match day squad with rolling substitutions like the NFL?

FFS

3 subs is enough...... GK plus 2. Then the manager would have use his head in getting best out of what is available.

Agree. three is plenty At a time when clubs are struggling financially its madness to increase wage bills.

good point... strange isn't it , today its how much football will have to change regarding how much they are spending.. tomorrow its more players /bigger squads which go hand in hand with more subs..
