CARDIFF CITY v CHARLTON ATHLETIC
Tuesday 30th June, 6pm
Sky Bet Championship
Cardiff City Stadium

Match to be played in front of no supporters, for information on how to watch the match on TV or to stream it - see below

TEAM NEWS!

Cardiff City XI (4-3-3): Smithies; Sanderson, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Pack, Bacuna, Ralls; Adomah, Mendez-Laing, Glatzel

Subs: Etheridge, Flint, Bamba, Smith, Vaulks, Whyte Tomlin, Hoilett, Paterson

Cardiff City have luckily not picked up any injuries from their first two matches following the restart.

The Bluebirds did suffer a little injury scare when Josh Murphy damaged his calf against Swansea City in a friendly match and Neil Harris said the winger is "touch and go" regarding his fitness for Tuesday's clash.

Elsewhere, Isaac Vassell is a long-term absentee, while Greg Cunningham is still working his way back to full fitness.

For Charlton there are also no obvious injury concerns.

We could see Wales international Jonny Williams start in the Welsh capital, having been an unused sub in Charlton's last match, a 1-0 win over QPR.

Former Cardiff City player Deji Oshilaja could start at left back, too.

About Charlton Athletic

Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional association football club based in Charlton, south-east London. They currently compete in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. The club was founded on 9 June 1905 when a number of youth clubs in south-east London, including East Street Mission and Blundell Mission, combined to form Charlton Athletic. Their home ground is the Valley, where the club have played since 1919, apart from one year in Catford, during 1923–24, and seven years at Crystal Palace and West Ham United between 1985 and 1992, due to financial issues, and then safety concerns raised by the local council. The club's fans formed the Valley Party, nominating candidates to stand in local elections, in a bid to return the club to The Valley.

Charlton turned professional in 1920 and first entered the Football League in 1921. Since then the club has had four separate periods in the top flight of English football: 1936–1957, 1986–1990, 1998–1999, and 2000–2007. Historically, Charlton's most successful period was the 1930s, when the club's highest league finishes were recorded, including runners-up of the First Division in 1937. After World War II, Charlton reached two consecutive FA Cup finals, losing in 1946, and winning in 1947.

The club's traditional kit consists of red shirts, white shorts and red socks, and their most commonly used nickname is The Addicks. Charlton share local rivalries with fellow South London clubs Crystal Palace and Millwall.

Difficult one to call this. Both have won each of their games since the resumption and Charlton have a good record v City.

A lot will depend on the team Harris starts with.

Will he bench Adomah & Paterson. Glatzel offers so much more up top but he hasn’t had to start both games with nobody passing to him.

Has ML got 90 minutes in him?

If Tomlin starts who drops out?

Lots of questions for Harris to ponder.

A must win game if we are to get into play offs! It looks as though the Charton team will contain three of our former Academy players, always a danger as they will have someone to prove!

It would be a disaster to lose this after two brilliant wins.

Charlton are not a bad side and are probably better than the League position suggests

A tough hard-fought 1-0 win is likely

A win here with one or two results going our way such as a draw between Preston v Derby and we will be in a strong position to claim that final play off spot.

I predict, and hope, for a home win but urge caution against over confidence. I hope Harris will pick the same team, attitude, and tactics for this one. Personally I would be happy with a 1-0, 3 points is the priority.

They don't sound too confident on the Charlton forum, split between a loss and less for a draw. Seem like a reasonable bunch though.

Hopefully not a "famous last words" situation.

A nice 10 am kickoff for me, much better than this 4 am lark of the last 2 games.

Match facts

Cardiff haven’t hosted Charlton at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship since September 2015, winning 2-1 with goals from Joe Mason and Sean Morrison.

Four of the last six Championship encounters between Cardiff and Charlton have ended as draws, with both teams winning one game apiece of the other two games.

Cardiff have won their last three Championship games, last winning more consecutively in March 2018 (eight in a row).

Charlton are looking to pick up three consecutive Championship victories for the first time since March 2015.

Charlton are averaging just nine shots per game in the Championship this season, fewer than any other side in the division.

Been a superb start for us since the restart and that's testament to Neil Harris's tactics and subs. We would be 2nd in the league if the league had started when Harris took over. Here's to hoping it continues tonight! :occasion5: :bluescarf:

Do we know yet if there will be any other form of Live Stream on?

Via IPTV if the guy on here is keeping up with his subscription selling as if I remember correctly he also posts where every Cardiff match can be found?

No particular issue paying a tenner a match though in the current circumstances.

I think he meant that if the table had started when Neil Harris became manager not when the enforced break ended two games ago!
