where has the figure of 2.7 million come from, as we have read or been told that it has been 1.2million, looking back through 2 articles on dec 16/17th 2009 it was reported that the 1.2million had been settled or at least half was and the other half would be settled by dec 31st.
so is the 2.7 million a new tax bill or is this in relation to the previous unpaid tax bill or has someone got the facts horribly wrong ?
Now would be a good time for transparency.
this is taken from an article, on walesonline, dated dec 17th 2009 :
PETER RIDSDALE said a High Court ruling yesterday puts any doubts anyone had about the future of the club to bed.During a short hearing, lawyers for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) requested that the
winding-up petition against Cardiff City be dismissed as the club’s bill with the taxman had been cleared.Last month the Bluebirds were threatened with the winding-up order unless they paid the outstanding money within 70 days.
Failure to pay the unknown amount could have led to assets being sold off and the club’s affairs being handed over to the Official Receiver.
But,
with the matter now resolved, Cardiff chairman Ridsdale said the club could focus fully on promotion to the Premier League.
“We were disappointed in the first instance, but
this puts any doubts that anybody had about the future of the club behind us,” he said last night. “We are delighted this has been sorted out.
“We can now get on with what we are trying to do, which is get this club promoted. It’s also good that we can reassure supporters who may not know the ins and outs of these situations.”
Ridsdale refused to comment on the amount of tax paid back saying: “That’s clearly confidential.”
But the chairman believes the club will now be able to give manager Dave Jones the funds he needs to bolster his squad in the January transfer window.
“We are talking to people about investment and hopefully there will be money available,” he said, adding the club’s new ticket scheme – which will see supporters who buy a season ticket before December 31 get their money refunded if the club gets promoted – was already proving hugely successful.
“The season ticket campaign has been extremely successful already,” he said. “I’m told yesterday was the best day for season ticket sales the club has ever had.”
A statement on Cardiff’s website added: “We can confirm that the High Court today formally dismissed the winding-up order that had previously been brought by HMRC.
“This was as a result of amicable discussions between the club and HMRC. We are grateful for their cooperation and support.”
It is the second financial boost in less than a week for the Bluebirds, who have also reached a settlement with the Langston Corporation over a £15m debt.
The club say that agreement removes the threat of any further legal action in the foreseeable future.heres the link to the above :

THE winding up order brought by the Inland Revenue against Cardiff City last month has been dismissed in the High Court
The original order was sought because of an unpaid tax bill of £1.2m, and the Bluebirds were given 70 days to settle the debt.
But the winding up order has today been dismissed following discussions between the two parties.
The football club have already paid around half of that sum and agreed a payment schedule which will see the rest paid off by the end of this year.A Cardiff City statement today said: “We can confirm that the High Court today formally dismissed the winding up order that had previously been brought by HMRC. This was as a result of amicable discussions between the Club and HMRC. We are grateful for their co-operation and support.”
