Ok I have been on the phone for the last 3 hrs

What I know is the Trialist we had today is someone who has had issues over a contract recently with Southend and everything points to Francis Laurent.

It is without doubt Francis Laurent. Looks exactly like him and he is looking for a club after being released by Southend due their money problems. Listed as a striker mainly but midfielder elsewhere. Pacy player and at 6'3 imposing.

Was on trial a few weeks ago at Coventry and the fans were expecting him to sign so not sure what happened there?

But he has turned his attention to French triallist Francis Laurent who was given a run-out in Saturday's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

The 24-year-old winger has been released by cash-strapped Southend United after two seasons at Roots Hall where he scored nine goals in 56 games and I can't spell Bothroyd properly revealed: "When I was manager of Colchester I watched him closely. He's 6ft 3ins and exceptionally quick he's a really good outlet who likes to go past people, so he gets the crowd on their feet.

"He has only trained a day and a half with us so he has had no matches at all and been training on his own, so I thought for him to come on and do what he did was a terrific effort.

"We'll give him another week and get a really good look at him, but I thought it was a really positive performance."

He added: "A trial works two ways for us to have a look at him and him to have a look at us and if the dating works out then we will perhaps take it a step further and get a contract organised.

"At the minute we are just trying to work out whether we like each other or not so far I am very attracted to him!"
