Postby Forever Blue » Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:20 pm

Sky News:

Cov-19 a two week quarantine in Oldham will start today with its 235,000 residents being asked not to have visitors , to keep away from others and to shield the elderly.

In addition, a large number of recent cases were in our Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities (just over 65% of cases in the last seven days).

hmmm.. these high rates would not have been considered high when lockdown was eased nationwide.

Great news lock them down and stop the spread, things are improving with quicker measures locking down on areas with sharp increases in cases.

There is a common link and the government need to be all over it, and stop it spreading, you can't dilly dally with situations like this at last the government seems to be learning and acting quicker

New measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 have been introduced in Oldham following a "dramatic" rise in cases.

Residents are being asked not to have social visitors to their homes and to keep two metres apart when outside.

Anyone shielding has been asked to continue to do so until 14 August and care homes will not relax restrictions.

The new measures are essential to prevent a "strict local lockdown" like in Leicester, Oldham Council's deputy leader councillor Arooj Shah said.

"The best way to avoid infection is to limit contact with others as much as possible and to stay home wherever you can, including working from home," she added.

Many aspects of the coronavirus lockdown have now eased across the UK but certain areas have introduced new measures to halt the spread of the virus.

Oldham follows Rochdale, its neighbouring Greater Manchester borough, and Blackburn with Darwen and Pendle in Lancashire, in introducing new restrictions.

There most certainly is a common thread linking these areas that are experiencing rises.

The UK govt is hypocritical as it is not applying the same criteria to holidays taken by Brits in the UK despite having several places where spikes have happened. Johnson should put his own house in order before condemning others

Hypocritical is too kind mate.

They are too disjointed. We are in the midst of an uncertain time yet the mixed messages and rudderless leadership continues.

Plus Parliament is shut as they take their summer break?!

Incredible.
