Exclusive: Cardiff City set to beat Derby, QPR & Millwall to sign 15-goal/assist ace

Saturday 1st August 2020

Cardiff City are set to beat QPR, Derby County and Millwall to the signing of Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore this summer, Football Insider understands.

As revealed by this site on Tuesday, the Rams joined the race for the 27-year-old after the Hoops and Lions had both tabled transfer bids.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Cardiff are in the driving seat to sign the Wales international and that a deal could be completed in the near future.

Football Insider revealed earlier on Friday that Middlesbrough had pulled out of the race for the former Barnsley ace as a transfer proved too expensive for Neil Warnock’s men.

Moore is set to be one of a number of players who leave Wigan this summer after the Latics entered administration and suffered relegation to League One.

He scored 10 goals and contributed five assists last season, which included four strikes in the final five games of the campaign.

However, his and his teammates’ efforts were not enough to save Wigan from the drop as the 12-point deduction saw them finish 23rd in the table.

Cardiff manager Neil Harris is in the market for a new centre-forward after none of his attackers hit double digits in terms of goal last season.

In other Cardiff City news, it can be REVEALED a Championship rival are in talks with a 28-year-old who has just quit QPR.

Cardiff City leading Derby, Millwall and QPR in race to sign 10-goal forward this summer

By Jordan Rushworth

01/08/2020

Cardiff City are leading the chase for a permanent move for Wigan Athletic forward Kieffer Moore this summer, with Derby County, Millwall and Queens Park Rangers potentially set to miss out on him this summer, according to the Football Insider.

Moore emerged as one of Wigan’s most influential performers as the season progressed having joined the Latics from Barnsley last summer, and the Wales international managed to register 10 goals and four assists in the Championship, as the club suffered relegation following a 12-points deduction.

Cardiff were beaten in the Championship play-off semi-finals Fulham despite a spirited performance in the second leg at Craven Cottage, and Neil Harris will be looking to add some extra firepower to his side as they look to recover and go one better than this season by clinching promotion next term.

It is thought that Moore will be amongst the Wigan players who are allowed to leave following their relegation back to League One, and that Cardiff are the front runners for his signature and are looking to beat Derby, Millwall and QPR to his signature.

The verdict

This would be exactly the sort of signing that Cardiff will need to help lift themselves after the frustrations of missing out on a return to the Premier League, and Moore could be the right player who will fit Harris’ style and deliver more end product in the last third.

One of the Bluebirds’ main issues last term was their lack of a prolific centre forward, with none of Robert Glatzel, Callum Paterson or Danny Ward reaching double figures for goals in the league – and that means there will certainly be room for Harris to add to his attacking options.

Moore’s confidence in front of goal really grew as the season progressed and he became one of the most dangerous forwards in the Championship by the end of the campaign, and although they face competition for his signature you feel the Bluebirds might be a perfect for for the forward.

Multiple sources now reporting that we've won the race to sign him.

Done well at Wigan this season and would be a better option than Glatzel, in my opinion.

Hold up play is better than glatzel but there again hes had more time in efl! Goals about2 more than glatzel but played more games ! Also what's been missed about glatzel since restart is what he's done off the ball on several occasions we have scored because hes blocked or distracted defender... trouble is we cannot have ward glatzel and Moore and doubt can start with two up top.
