Pontyclun lad who was a city stalwart back in the day...RIP mate
Keith Pontin (14 June 1956 - 2 August 2020) was a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Pontin began his career with Cardiff City, making nearly 200 league appearances and earning two caps for the Welsh national team. He later played for Merthyr Tydfil and Barry Town.

I think I read he wasnt a well man not long ago. I remember him and he was on the front of the matchday programme in about 1977.

Former Wales and Cardiff City defender Keith Pontin has died aged 64.
Pontin, from Pontyclun, made 193 league appearances for Cardiff between 1976 and 1983.
He won two Wales caps, making his debut in the famous 4-1 win over England in 1980.
"It is with great sadness that the club has learned of the passing of former Bluebird Keith Pontin," Cardiff said in a statement released on social media.
Pontin had been diagnosed with dementia in 2016, when aged 59.

It’s with great sadness that the club has learned of the passing of former #Bluebird, Keith Pontin.
Keith made close to 200 City appearances between 1976 & 1983, earning two @FAWales caps.

Very sad news I remember him very well in my teenage days the 1975/76 season when we won promotion to the second division very tall always stood out another bluebird taken away far to early and far to young rip Keith pontin god bless you

If it was The Vale Club near L'Oreal, I spent many a Saturday night in there during the early 80s

Sad to hear, as I knew Keith somewhat through his sister Wendy (she worked at East Glam Hospital) many years ago
