United have made a third signing of the day, with Chris Wilder adding a versatile Welsh international to his squad.
Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu, who can play in a number or defensive and midfield roles, arrives at Bramall Lane on a season-long loan deal, following the arrival of Derby County duo Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe.
Of Ampadu, Wilder commented: "Ethan is an outstanding young player for Chelsea, and we've worked really hard to get his signature for the season.
"We need to thank Frank Lampard and the people at Chelsea for helping making this happen. We've got a good relationship with them and they know we're going to take good care of him.
"It's an important season for Ethan and playing in the Premier League for us is a good move for everyone. He brings a lot of qualities to the group and he's someone we've tracked for two or three seasons."
The Exeter born operator began his career at his hometown club and made his senior debut for the Grecians as a 15-year-old in an EFL Cup tie against Brentford in August 2016.
In the summer of 2017, the Blues came calling for Ampadu's services and when he made his Stamford Bridge debut a few months later he became Chelsea's youngest debutant in over a decade.
In 2018, the now 13 times capped Wales international, penned a new five-year deal in the capital and was sent out on-loan to RB Leipzig by Frank Lampard to further his development last season.
Ampadu will feature in our opening matchday programme of the season against Wolves - on sale now.

Good point.
Hope he gets regular playing time at Sheffield United.
