Until the emphasis shifts from "infections" to deaths and hospitalisations then there's no chance of going to a football match, a concert or any other entertainment where crowds may gather.

i dont either anymore.. its moved from numbers of deaths...to infections...to asymptomatic cases now...in years gone by there would be no testing..no one actually ill..so get on with life...? someone put a link up about Spains rise in infections...mostly young with no symptoms...

Health service wales spokesman this morning
more or less said dont socialise at all to stop spread of virus? And as they using positive cases as yardstick for closing down places there is no way any entertainment establishments will open next 6 months.... furlough ends in October what then for pubs cafes restaurants ect?

Close pubs to start with, not essential and hard to police social distancing after a few beers have been drunk.

when you factor in the enormous ramp up of testing governments are now imposing local lockdowns on lower figures than when easing lockdowns... confused dot com.

Ive been to one pub for a meal , in the last six months.
Did I enjoy the experience , no .
Did I miss going out , no .
This virus as certainly changed peoples perspective, on the way to live .
Its going to be years , with all this negative publicity , to get back to some sort of normal (if it ever will)

I hit 50 and for no particular reason stopped regular drinking, i just fell out of the ritual. I have been to two restaurants since opening and enjoyed the experience. What it taught me is I was conditioned to drink like so many working class lads and i see the world slightly differently nowadays.

What the government need to do is work out why do they think its unsafe ? Sitting in the open air with planned seating arrangements is ultimate control, surely. Take booze out of the situation by stopping all sales of alcohol in the ground and very strict socially distanced surrounding pubs for the lucky few who can book a table (if that's what you want) and i don't see why its a problem.

There is a pandemic, deaths is the ultimate metric, but its a huge lagging indicator meaning when you are there its takes a long time and many deaths to to see if the correction work as we found out in the spring. Social distancing, washing and cleaning regimes then masks halted the deaths in the country, so they worked. The virus hasn't left us. Booze make dicks out of many of us, restrict it by stopping the late night stuff and open up society.

They'll be more people in st davids centre on Saturday, all enclosed. It makes little sense to me.

I agree they will take it even more cautiously now, the ground itself with distancing it should be fairly safe as outdoors, but the stairwells and understairs areas and bars would be where there is a risk?

The only way to beat the virus is to let young people out to socialise with each other get the virus when their symptoms will be mild to non existent to create a herd immunity. If we don't do that this thing will drag on for years. If crowds are not let back into football soon there won't be a problem as most football clubs will be bankrupt and most players on the dole along with large sections of the population. We can't go on letting nervous ninnies ruin things for everyone else.

Masks will be compulsory inside stadium areas except outside areas like you seats..... so be safe as houses as need long periods of touching someone.... as that's not going to happen it will be safer than most areas where people congregate.

Their is clearly a lot of people who doesn’t understand much about Virology on this forum. Winter is coming and with it the virus will rise dramatically and so unfourtunetly will the death rate. Plus add to that flu season, hopefully it’s not a bad strain this year because if I t is the NHS will be seeing a crazy amount of excess deaths from them simply not having the resources to treat everyone. Why anybody realistically thought they would actually be attending many games this year is beyond me.

Phil if knowing that this virus is going to rise and the winter flu rush coming why are they closing the field hospitals if as you say hospitals wont cope? 2+2 not making 4 with this logic! Football stadiums safer than pubs ect

Here we go second wave blah blah go tell the thousands of missed cancer patients who will die, go to the empty hospital wards
unused, go to the Millenium Stadium not used go to the Parc Straedy not used, go to the Film Studios on.... Fabian way en route to Swansea not used, blame Covid for my gout. The media hysterics compound fear and scare people shitless. I am sick to death of the bollocks surrounding this nasty virus. How many deaths have been attributed to Covid whereas in reality the actual cause is elsewhere? In Care Homes where doctors refused to attend early doors this attribution to Covid was not uncommon. I heard one medic today compare it to the Spanish Flu of 1918 !!!!! Spare me for f**k's sake.I tell you what:
Shut all schools
Shut all shops
Shut all pubs and eateries
Shut all offices
Stop public transport
Shut all supermarkets
Shut churches
Stop people driving
Put the army on the streets with shoot to kill powers

The virus isn’t going to just go away. Protect the elderly and those with health conditions, otherwise let everyone get on with their lives ffs.

All the temp hospitals mentioned are being decommissioned as we speak and be completed by Nov... so obviously WG is planning for major spike in winter :D

Just accept that it is unlikely that we will be setting foot inside Cardiff City Stadium next season. The virus statistics were always going to get worse again as everything opened up after lockdown. Unfortunately, too many people cannot be trusted to follow guidelines given and this has accelerated. Pubs are full of people sat together that shouldn't be. Many gathering of people regardless of age both at indoor parties and outdoor rallies etc. Eventually, it's obvious more areas will be on lockdown again just like Caerphilly and in time the pubs will also close. You don't need to be a genius to work all this out.
So once again; forget live football this coming season!

If that's the case professional football is dead in this country! Do you think any div 1 or 2 teams will survive this season without fans? Only those with rich owners and then wont have any players as all be redundant..... same will apply to championship so be interesting if gvmnt will allow this to happen?

Unfortunately some 'non-league' teams are already going out of business as a result of the lack of income through the turn-styles. I'm expecting this to extend to more than one lower league clubs as the season progresses. I don't suppose 'the virus' cares about them or the covidiots who help to spread it!

The problem is the actual infection rate is NOT increasing

Yes we are seeing the amount of people testing positive increasing but this is mainly due to a few odd clusters but mainly because we are testing more

I will give you an example The psychiatric unit where I work all staff are now tested weekly which only started in August and we have had 2 positive cases amongst staff. Neither of them had any symptoms and would not have been picked up 6 weeks ago because we weren’t being tested weekly at that time

I havent read a single post where people do not know deaths will rise in winter.....its most people do not want to sacrifice any more lives than the mistake has already caused.. you quite simply cannot live in a world thats reduced 110k occupancy in hospital beds to 40k for months , cancelled millions of appointments and treatments, and scared people to a degree where they do not seek medical care when ill and it all be fine... its not fine and the side effect of restictions/ lock downs is going to be far more expensive in terms of lives lost than this virus many times over..... truth be told they scared the living daylights out of people ..because... they thought what was coming was far worse than it turned out... hence the many field hospitals , empty hospital wards and unused testing stations that are now disappearing.. { probably they dont understand virology either } ... they did not do that for any other reason than because it was going to be worse , a hell of a lot worse..it was not.... shocking how many havent got the common sense to see this...

Gvmnt is waiting for zero positive tests before they say ok people you can now carry on with your lives ? It's not only football that will lose its identity theatres are on their knees with same problem plus lots more...... what you will see is people to scared to go out where people congregate inside! So all entertainment and hospitality businesses will start to close from lack of business .....
