Agreed. It is hard to keep selling players, making a profit, while maintaining a high standard of team performance.

Good signing for Villa, they desperately needed a striker. Sounds like Watkins was their second choice, after missing out on Callum Wilson to Newcastle.


Brentford have signed Ivan Toney this summer, who is a prolific scorer at League One level - we'll see if he can step up.

Likewise with Watkins and the step up to the Premier League.

They keep finding rough diamonds polishing them up and shipping them on and their side still keeps getting better.

They signed Watkins for £1.8M from league 2 Exeter two years ago as a winger and have just sold him for £28M after one season as a (very successful) championship striker.

Would bloody love us to do a bit of business like that. Zohore deal was decent but fortunate and pales in comparison.

Brentford could make £60M in profit before the window closes and still have a side with a chance of competing at the top end of the Championship and a brand new stadium to boot.

Even if Benrahma goes (which is almost a given) they still have a Mbuemo, Canas, Valencia, and Toney to pick from as attacking players that would sit in their system well - all of whom I would welcome at the City.

Same goes for the centre of the pitch with Jensen, Norgaard, Baptiste and Da Silva.

Biggest loss they will struggle to replace is Rico Henry - best full back in the division in my eyes and they don't relly have a lot of depth in right back (sounds familiar)

They'll be up there again this season mark my words. Hopefully so will we, but I wouldn't write Brentford off because their big names are moving on.

You have to think that Villa have overpaid by around £10m for him. Good striker so far in the Championship in a very attacking and creative team. It will be interesting to see what he does in a Villa side who don't create a lot.
