Doesnt sound a lot annis but apparently the two people concerned have serious money ! So looks like a serious attempt to get Wrexham going again? Good luck to them hope it comes off.

Wrexham AFC have been the subject of a takeover approach that would see £2m ploughed into the National League club.

Wrexham Supporters Trust, which own the non-league club, have called a special general meeting to discuss the potential offer.

The club says the approach has been made by "two extremely well-known individuals of high net worth".

The pair, who wish to remain anonymous, are said to intend to immediately invest £2m into the club.

It would see an entire takeover of the north Wales club which has been in fan ownership since 2011.

The Trust says the SGM is needed for approval from members to pursue discussions regarding the offer and say they have taken professional advice and that the indicative offer is entirely credible.

The Trust will meet on Tuesday, 22 September with the identity of the interested individuals able to be disclosed once members have authorised the board to proceed with discussions.

Wrexham director Spencer Harris told BBC Sport Wales: "It's in its very early stages and at the moment our focus needs to remain firmly on getting the squad prepared for the first game of the season.

"And then this will run along in the background for supporters to make their minds up on what direction they want the club to go in.

"There are many hurdles to go through yet before we have a firm proposal to put forward to fans.

"In terms of any cash injection into a football club and especially at this level, it makes a significant amount of difference.

"That being said, Dean [Keates, Wrexham manager] has assembled what we think is a really good squad so we're very optimistic for the season whichever direction this takes - but any injection of cash does help businesses."

Wrexham should be at least a Division 1 club, get good crowds, we have had some good battles with them over the years! Thanks to Tan we are not in their predicament! Money matters in Football!

Yea I remember him he phoned up a few times. He seemed to be offering his 'expertise' rather than hard cash, THB he sounded a bit like another Peter Ridsdale ;)
