Asset stripping

With the player sale ongoing, Bennett maybe next, I hope the club hierarchy don't come out and say we are 'looking at playoffs at least'.

Its been a dreadful time financially for every club, and yet there are still clubs spending sums that allow them to be competitive.

We've had 1 x permanent and 2 x loans, neither of whom are setting the world alight.

What is more disappointing is the silence of the board. The energy and enthusiasm of the current board is rubbing off on the Cardiff faithful. The standard of player we have, or are looking at now is worse than Slade era and on par with Trollope.

A message to the current regime. Sell the club to someone with a vision of success.

Yes good idea let's find a buyer to buy a club that's losing millions? Sure they're queuing up to buy a football club at moment ... :o

Current owners have given up on success of any kind, therefore a sale is a must.

He is right in some respects Alan
We are hearing nothing off Tan , Choo and Dalman.....Surely they must know the fans want to know whats going on ...everyone seems to be linked either Morrison , Bennett, Ralls , Bamba . Hoilett Has the Board put out that everyone is available at cut price. Are they selling all the big earners off and bringing in cheaper options
If so Tell us.

In the middle of a pandemic with nobfans allowed in grounds We have bought a Welsh international striker in this window and two highly rated Premier league youngsters. We are also the 5th highest spenders in our league so far

We have released players who were either high earners and not needed or players coming to the end of contracts

How is that in any way like Slade and trollope who were shopping in league 1 and 2

Come on everyone knows tan will sell as soon as someone pays enough been on market for 4yrs or more! ..... hes put in the money got the success but for whatever reason we have not had continuing success that enables team to be improved... hes not assset stripping just simply cutting costs like all clubs are doing.... Teams that are spending are gambling because ffp as been altered to inc extra year so spending money they have not got in hope get promoted which will come back to bite them almost certainly.

It is just my opinion Sven, but I don't hear, see or feel anything to the contrary.

Someone tell me whether Sheff Wed, Forest, Derby have bigger debt than us, are they selling everything they can, have they received a parachute payment, are they 'going for it?

I'll qualify again this is my opinion, but The current regime have lost interest, in the club, the fans, and in pushing for promotion.

Its funny how we all see it. I see it as a reboot. It may work or go tits up.

I don't rate Harris, but i think he is doing a half decent job of culling the dead wood and hopefully getting starters in and not have one of the most expensive and star studded benches in the league.

Welsh international starter
Arsenal lad had a shaky first game but built on it and may well be premier league class
The Liverpool lad isn't a right winger but may well be a championship 10 or a left winger

If we get Cauley Woodrow I would be very impressed.

Flint, Murphy, Glatzel, Bennett & Ralls are the most slagged off players on this forum so losing 2 would surely be a celebration for some.

Hopefully another starting winger would be good, but we'd need another full back as cover

Do they need to spell it out what's happening? Common sense tells you that club is cutting costs in every dept? We heared of cuts in maintenance and other staff this week and playing staff is no different! We are getting rid of what the manager feels are expendable players (wages) whilst bringing in what he feels are essential players in positions we need for less money , as for other clubs spending money like sheff wed they are simply gambling no more no less and thats upto them .... I looked couple weeks ago and think only around 10m was spent on players in championship 5m on 1 player to Norwich all rest were Loans or undisclosed fees.... so we are doing same as everyone else is doing adjusting playing staff..

Clubs you mentioned are gambling on getting promotion using the extra years grace in ffp to spend money they have not got .... ffs shef wed just got away with getting a points deduction for improper financial conduct in relation to ffp And derby had similar problems with ffp over selling ground to avoid ffp..
Do you think they've miraculously got money now? Tan is doing what he needs to do to keep club viable and that means cutting costs.

We have had more income with parachute payments than the majority of the division.

Fans being treated like Mushrooms.

I don't like it and see a season of real struggle, but then again, what do the board expect. Tell us what the expectation of this club are for this season, and I can bet my bottom dollar it'll be nothing like 90% of clubs in this division.

Fans need hope and something to cheer. Our board has no intention of providing us with either.

So you think every other club in championship the expectations are we are aiming for top 6 whilst city are aiming for nothing? Based on fact other clubs are spending money they dont have and city are re balancing their playing staff? Simple question for you if city kept every player from last season would that garauntee promotion? And clubs that have spent money this season does that garauntee them promotion? ANSWER IS NO on both accounts ....
Time will tell who got things right.. maybe nobody did...

A very measured response, but no, last season's squad wouldn't guarantee promotion.

We haven't replaced high earners with quality, in fact we have basically just got rid, and not replaced at worst, and replaced with lower quality at best.

Football supporters live for hope. For the future, for the season, for the next game. Balance the books yes, but blend it with ambition.

I for one, maybe the only one, think a change of ownership at this time would bring the hope that I've lost in this regime.

I am not sure why I still get shocked of peoples opinions but there seems like people don't live in the real world. Tan has been putting in 1m per month running g costs. There is a global pandemic and like any business football is far from immune. If we need to sell bennett, morrison or any player then the club is always there.

We have had a taste of the premiership and to be honest it ain't all that. For myself the only benefit I see if financially. Other than that the championship is a tremendous league to be part of....only.my opinion but some people need to accept the club has lost millions so rightly we need to cut our cloth accordingly.

Younger players given a chance = yes please

We are also losing about £ 500,000 for each game without fans!! Plus the salsa case to be settled one way or another,so that has to be taken into account.without tans money,we would be up shit creek without a paddle in these unusual circumstances with covid,if you can't see that, may I suggest a visit to the opticians.

My only hope in these strange times,is for our club to come out the other side, still alive and kicking! If I am honest, I wasn't expecting big cash being splashed, and worry that those like Wednesday (who may still lose the appeal against them)are going for broke, and if they fail, they could find themselves staring down the barrell next year, even with the"relaxing" of FFP, I'd rather we kept a steady ship myself.my other hope? To get back to the CCS, and coming home hoarse!! :old: :bluebird:

The notion of a "sale" of the club is just that. It's as likely as getting our money back for Murphy.

I agree with poster that "hope" is a great thing to have. Let's face it, the longer in the tooth city fan survived on it for years. But hope needs to be realistic. And there is no point our owners declaring we are "going all out" for top two as we would decry them anyway when we witnessed lack of signings and the first poor performance.

Think a lot of fans hope for now should be that they still have a club to support and hadn't gone through and just maybe watch inside a stadium before this season has finished.

We released a player who made 60odd appearances and scored 12 goals over 3 seasons. We sold our 2nd choice keeper who would have left for free next season. We sold a player who after 3 season nobody knows what position he actually plays, who was replaced by a natural centre forward. Hardly asset striping.

People need to be more realistic. It is not sustainable in the championship to have fringe players sat on thd bench earning 20k a week. We missed out on promotion last season so the club are off-loading players ready for when the parachute payments stop next season. Smithies, etheridge, Bennet, cunningham, Morrison, hoilet, Murphy, Patterson would have all been on high wages after promotion. Add to that warnock spent close to 20mill on players last season as well.

The parachute payments are there to help cover the extra costs picked up after promotion. Its not free cash thats just sitting there ready to be spent on new players. I'm not a big Tan fan but people seem to slate him yet expect him to invest millions on top of what he's already putting into the club.

Tan is the best owner we have had in my lifetime (44 years).

Yes he's a bit more cautious the last few years, but we have been promoted twice, FA cup final and League cup final.

I love it when our fans cry out for new owners, hopefully we get the chicken farmers from Blackburn!!! Jesus get a grip
