Cardiff City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Dillon Phillips, subject to international clearance.
The goalkeeper has signed a three-year deal at CCS, and joins from Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old shot stopper joined Charlton at the age of eight. He became their number one during their promotion winning season of 2018/19 - and made 46 Championship appearances last season for the Addicks - keeping nine clean sheets.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Dillon said: “I’m over the moon to be here. I’m excited for the challenge now.
“I’m coming in to compete with the other two goalkeepers and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s exciting for me. It’s a big step and I’m looking forward to cracking on.”

Another decent signing but in reality a squad filler not a starter
Can't see him being involved much unless Smithies gets Injured
Unbelievable that people were calling for Day to be given a chance when he was clearly very poor and even worse he actually started a few games

Yeah fine BUT where’s the cover for RB?
Harris couldn’t guarantee Sanderson a start so unsurprisingly he went where he would start.
Just hope Tutu stays fit and on form

Should have sent Day out on loan, don’t need three senior keepers, he’ll be sitting in the stand all season!

From day one I could not believe Day was ever our cover for Smithies.
League 2 at best.

Keepers get injured regularly, so its good to have a good number two, better than having to throw day in for sure!

People moaned that Day wasnt good enough as cover, we sign a solid championship keeper and People still moan
Majority of the comments I've seen on fb from charlton fans say they are gutted he's left and we've signed a good keeper. Only 25 so should be with us for a while as well.

Cardiff City have signed Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Dillon Phillips.
The Addicks stopper, who had been on the club’s books since the age of eight, had been dropped out of the first-team picture this season after rejecting a new contract.
Phillips, who joins for an undisclosed fee, has signed a three-year contract with the Welsh outfit.
Ben Amos had been handed the number one slot with Ashley Maynard-Brewer acting as back up.
Phillips was Charlton’s Player of the Year last season – winning praise despite the club being relegated back to League One.
Addicks manager Lee Bowyer told the club’s website: “I gave him his opportunity and he grabbed it with both hands and didn’t let go. Now is time for him to move on. He has been exceptional for me and I can’t fault him in any way. He’s made save-after-save, has been great around the place – very professional. He’s worked hard and he’s got his reward for working hard.
“This club is very good at bringing people through. He started at the academy and slowly but surely came through. Andy Marshall has worked really well with him and improved him a lot, so hopefully he keeps that work rate up and keeps progressing.
“We’ve got Ben Amos, who is a good goalie, and Ashley [Maynard-Brewer] as number two – so we focus on looking forward.”
Phillips told Cardiff’s official website: “I’m over the moon to be here. I’m excited for the challenge now.
“I’m coming in to compete with the other two goalkeepers and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s exciting for me. It’s a big step and I’m looking forward to cracking on.”

WOH have i missed something here, im 60 and my first game was in 68/69
the best goalkeeper ive seen for city was neil etheridge- remember the prem year guys and before someone says he was on 20k a week look at the wages loan players coming in are on , so if this is stenghening the squad for a top 6 finish lets enjoy the championship a little bit longer

Simple question, were you happy to have day as number 2? Most weren't.

Fair point there; most were sceptical Day currently has the ability to step up for a run of games; although he will improve with age and experience (as most keepers do)

He must know he's on the Bench waiting for Smithies to get injured because form wise theres nothing in this league capable of moving him at the moment. But a cheaper option than Etheridge.
