Coventry City manager Mark Robins: “[After Birmingham City last Friday] It was one of those nights where they get into wide positions and put really good balls into the box, and that’s playing to Jutkiewicz’s strength because he’s powerful in the air.

"But we needed to make sure we stop the crosses and then defend them properly when they do come in, and they did that OK.

“There were times when your heart was in your mouth because we didn’t deal with it properly. But this is like a practice for Wednesday night when we will face more of the same.””

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris: "Now, without international break coming up there are no grey areas. We don’t look at that whole period up until January 1 and look at how many points we expect, it’s too far in advance.

"We are looking at it a little bit smaller.

"We are prepared as a group better now than we were two months ago when we came back from a very short break. That was a real kick in the teeth at the time.

"Now, we know exactly where we are and what we’re doing. We know where we have to be better and we know we are improving.

"It’s a tough period, but we are ready for it."
