BBC Radio Stoke's Crewe Alexandra reporter Graham McGarry to get the full lowdown on the Singapore-qualified player.
What's he like as a player?
He's a modern day full-back and he fits the modern day game. Definitely. He's an up and down player, who can do the defending side of it, but he's very effective in the final third, and he's very versatile.
He's played right-back, left-back, centre-half and as a holding midfielder in his time in the first team. There are plenty of roles he can fill and perhaps if he was a bit taller, he would have been an out-and-out centre-back, but the size of him makes him more suited to the full-back role.
Is he good enough for the Championship?
I don't think he'll have any problem. The better the player he plays with, the better he'll become. He's come through a real spell of hard work to get where he is. He wasn't one of the high-flyers of the academy or anything. So he's had to prove himself and work his way through all that to reach the level that he's been at for the last two years.
He captains the team in the way he plays. Yes, he wants to win and wants to produce a good performance, but he's not a shouter in the dressing room or anything like that.
There's definitely more to come from him, though. He's still got time on his side at 24. He could be playing in the Premier League in two years. There's nothing to stop him.
He's had a few suspensions in his career already, is there a problem with his temperament?
He obviously had a horrible experience when he got done at Cheltenham in the cup for spitting.
He still has a tendency to let himself down and he's got to learn from that if he wants to kick on.
I don't think it's a massive issue. I really don't. He's had 155 games under his belt already. He's the captain of the team and led them to promotion. So he's got all the attributes that managers quite like.
