' Mick McCarthy's full-time outburst explained '

When the full-time whistle blew, Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor erupted in euphoric celebration, screaming, fist bumping and embracing one another.

But as the camera panned to the Bluebirds boss, he seemed to be angry and remonstrating with someone.

Well, the explanation is typical McCarthy.

Not content with the manner in which Cardiff saw out the game, the City manager turned to Andy Dibble, the goalkeeping coach, and let him know exactly what his thoughts were on Dillon Phillips' kicking at the end of the game.

Phillips was terrific with the gloves at the Liberty Stadium, he made a couple of key saves, including one terrific one from Morgan Whittaker late on, and dealt with a barrage of balls into the box. But his distribution was dicey, at best, at times.

With Cardiff trying to see out the game calmly, McCarthy wanted Phillips to pump the ball up to Kieffer Moore, who could flick on and keep the ball away from the Cardiff goal for as long as possible.

But Phillips' radar was off and he kept missing his target and ceding possession in the process. McCarthy let him know exactly what he thought of that.

So, after the initial euphoria had died down, McCarthy took it upon himself to tell Dibble just how displeased he was at that aspect of the 'keeper's game. Ever the perfectionist!
