Even before Tomlin had the injury operation.

Lee Tomlin has had five appearances this season, scored one goal and got a red card. Never really looked anywhere near his best. Underwent groin surgery back in October and is yet to feature since.

McCarthy has said he is not fit enough yet, no where near the type of fitness that he expects from his players.

Tomlin last played for Cardiff City nearly six months ago and had his groin operation in October. Mick McCarthy said he expected Tomlin fully fit and playing for the first team by March, well it will be the middle of April at the earliest judging by how Tomlin has played in four U23 games.

Lee Tomlin had his best ever spell for Cardiff City near the end of his last contract, which secured him a new one.
With only 50 odd appearances for the Bluebirds in over three and a half years, Tomlin will have to make a big impression from now till the end of the season if he wants manager McCarthy to want him to be part of his plans for next season.

Tomlin himself in an interview (Daily Mail) said ‘I didn’t like being told what to do. My attitude was poor. I never did anything terrible. I’ve always been someone who would be first in the training ground and last out but I’d mess around."

‘I wouldn’t work as hard as I needed to. Because of the ability I had I didn’t think I needed to.

Tomlin on a number occasions has been nearly two stone over weight, he himself admits, he lets himself go and then has to work hard to get rid of his weight.
"People would see me and think I didn’t even look like a footballer in the past," he said.

Tomlins career has seen him play for Rushden and Diamonds, Brackley Town, Peterborough, Middlesborough, Bournemouth, Bristol City, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Peterborough again, Cardiff City.

Lee Tomlin is 32 years old and has one more year left of his contract with the Welsh Club.

What waste of such a great talent, its to late now as years have gone, what people would give to have Tomlins talent, only has himself to blame.

I doubt he'll even make a single appearance before the end of the season. Undoubtedly hugely talented and he had a great season last year but time to move him on. I like the clubs drive towards youth at the moment and I am far more excited by the what's coming through U23s than hoping Tomlin can huff and puff for 20 minutes and show a flash of what he can do.

The U23 game this week which Tomlin played in showed that Isaak Davies deserved a call up before Tomlin. i can't see us seeing Tomlin playing for the 1st team again this season.

I totally agree Ian, without a doubt and as Eastleigh Blue said plenty of talent coming through and I would rather see them have a chance. :thumbright: :bluebird:
