UPDATED " HUGE WIN FOR WALES TONIGHT "

Mon Mar 29, 2021 6:55 pm

FULL TIME: WALES 1-0 CZECH REPUBLIC

A huge win for Wales in a game full of controversy.

Schick was sent off early in the second half for Czech Republic. He appeared to hit Connor Roberts in the face, but Roberts went down easily and it was a soft red card. Roberts was booked.

With just 12 minutes to go, Roberts was then harshly sent off for a second bookable offence.

Dan James headed in a crucial winner from Gareth Bale's cross in the 82nd minute to give Wales a huge victory.

Group table below as this international break concludes.

2 Czech Republic - played 3 - 4 points - GD+3

3 Wales - played 2 - 3 points - GD-1

A very big game for Wales on Tuesday night as we host Czech Republic at Cardiff City Stadium.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm. It is live on Sky Sports Main Event and S4C Digital.

There is one other game in our group on Tuesday, which also kicks off at 7.45pm, as Belgium play Belarus at home.

So far, we have played one game - which we lost 3-1 at Belgium. We also beat Mexico 1-0 in a home friendly.

Belgium have played two games, also drawing 1-1 at Czech Republic as well as their win against us.

Czech Republic have also played two games - that draw against Belgium and winning 6-2 in Estonia.

Wales really need to win to boost our chances of finishing top two in the group.

There have been a few changes to the squad since the Mexico game.

James Lawrence has been given permission by the German Government and St Pauli to join back up with the squad, having missed the Mexico game to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Hal Robson-Kanu, Rabbi Matondo and Tyler Roberts are out of the squad for breaching FAW protocol.

0-0 at half time.

Quite an even game, but Bale should have scored a sitter to give us the lead.

Slow slow dead dead slow! Need to pick pace up with them down to ten men rather than go slow passing side to side... they could have had 2 goals since red card! :o

They could have had a penalty as well.

I'd be livid if I was Czech, as the red card was soft as well.

It was our player reaction that got him sent off going down as if punched! We are poor they could have had 2 but definitely no pen ....we lack urgency can only see them winning... we've had one shot on target I think when bale should scored? Now its 10 against 10 2and booking Roberts :o

Robert's 2nd yellow mmmm

Another poor decision I think.

Not sure how he can give Roberts a second yellow for that but not book Ampadu for the challenge he just made.

Dan James should have scored just now.

Cannot see us winning group plus cannot see us scoring enough goals to make a difference? Belgium + 10 Czechs + 5 wales -1 just cant see us scoring 5 or 6 against Belarus or Estonia like the other two have!

You never know, next time we play games in this qualifying group will be in September after the Euros. In the first international break, we have Belarus away and Estonia at home. They are both obviously must win.

Chances are by then, that we will have key players like Ramsey and Allen back from injury. The rest of our squad will be far less knackered than they are now as well.

If we also somehow won in Czech Republic and beat Belgium at home, we'd be in with a great chance.

We are practically guaranteed a play-off spot anyway.

But still in with a chance of finishing top.

We are capable but think we will fall short.. thought we are in playoffs due to other teams results? Or does it need outrageous results to stop us getting playoffs through nations league?
