Players you’ve got with you, Sean Morrison, he back?

Mick McCarthy:

No. Sean is injured. He is still out. The lads who have come in have done very well. But you want to look back at games like Swansea, he was outstanding.

He is a great leader of the team and we welcome him back. If and when he is fit to play.

I’ve just seen him on the treatment table, we do expect to see him again this season. He might be a doubt about Brentford.

Sean Morrison remains unavailable through injury, with McCarthy confirming the defender will miss Friday's trip to the Madejski Stadium.

MICK McCARTHY:

"Sean is still out, the lads who have come in have done very well but when I look back at his performances he's a great leader and we'd welcome him back," said McCarthy.

"He's not for Friday [vs Reading], and then we will have to look at Brentford, he could be a doubt for that as well.

"We hope to see him before the end of the season but we'll see."

I think we will look back in years to come mate and say that Morrison was one of the best captains we've ever had

Absolutely, mate; and we've had some great ones over the years :ayatollah:

Fred Keenor probably takes the ultimate accolade; but in my time we've had some super captains

In no particular order...

Don Murray
Mike England
Ricie Morgan
Phil Dwyer (my boyhood City hero)
Jason Perry
Graham Kavanagh
Darren Purse
Mark Hudson
Sean Morrison

I'm sure others will add to this list :bluescarf:

He’s a rock for us. It shows when he doesn’t play.

In the 5 matches Sean Morrison has missed this season we have taken just 1 of the 15 points available says it all really.

MM suggested today that maybe the International break came at the wrong time for us this season, I think maybe this latest injury to SM was a bridge to far especially on top of losing Joe Bennett.

SM contract runs out next season surely the club just cannot allow his contract to run down.

A few of those are before my time mate :D

Loved Jason Perry and Darren Purse the most out of your list that I remember mate.

Met Jason Perry when I was a kid and he was Captain and he was a top top bloke, him, Damon Searle and Nathan Wigg came to a charity event and were legends, bare in mind this was early-mid 90s and they probably wernt on great money in Division 3 they were great blokes who couldn't do enough.

Agree, Morrison is my vote for player of the season. I go back to the promotion season we lost 4 on the bounce when he was injured and in a pressure game against Hull away where we normally struggle he dragged us over the line single handed.

Also our heavy defeats to QPR 6-1 and Wednesday 5-0 you won't be surprised to hear Morrison was missing for both.

Flint and Nelson look league 1 standard and I have no doubt if he wasn't injured we would've made the playoffs.

Get him signed up ASAP Mick.

I was very surprised when he was made captain. I was wrong.

He's been an exceptional leader.

Sven is right, history will judge Morrison very kindly.

Especially as sometimes everything around him was awful.

I can't speak highly enough of Damon Searle as a player and as a man...

Goes out of his way, helps people and puts them at ease; he is top class I my experience  :ayatollah:

We always miss Morrison.

Remember the four games we lost over Xmas last time we went up? No Morrison.

He’s vital.

Absolutely agree.

The little old fella from Pembroke doesn’t rate him at all though!

Along with Moore I can’t think of many others I’d be gutted to see leave in the summer.

Ng I would be gutted to leave purely because I think he’s gonna be really good.

Yeah fair comment but he needs to be back in his right position.

Bennett would be one I'd be disappointed to see go. Hopefully he can come back from his injury without any lasting issues because he's been a good player for us.

Yeah he’s been very good for us but he’s getting on a bit now and out until October next year I think so I wouldn’t be bothered if he’s moved on.
