Swansea City to review matchday security protocols after fan is ejected during Wycombe Wanderers clash

It's not yet clear how the fan, who appeared to be wearing a Wycombe Wanderers jersey, gained entry into the Liberty Stadium

A fan wearing a Wycombe shirt is removed from the Liberty Stadium by stewards.

Swansea City say they will review their matchday security protocols after stewards ejected a Wycombe Wanderers fan from the Liberty Stadium during Saturday's Championship clash.

Referee Keith Stroud stopped proceedings during the closing minutes of the 2-2 draw, after spotting the spectator in the North Stand.

Stewards subsequently moved to eject the supporter, who appeared to be wearing a Wycombe top.

It's not yet clear how the supporter managed to gain entry to the ground, with fans having been banned from attending from matches since March 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

In a statement, a club spokesperson said: "A Wycombe Wanderers supporter gained entry to the Liberty Stadium during the game before being apprehended by stadium security staff.

"South Wales Police swiftly dealt with the person involved and he was ejected from the premises.

"While this is very much an isolated incident, the club will continue to monitor all areas of security on a matchday."

The match itself saw Swansea bounce back from two goals down to rescue a point, courtesy of a Jamal Lowe penalty and a late Liam Cullen strike.

The Swans return to action on Tuesday night, with Queens Park Rangers the visitors to the Liberty Stadium.
