These owners just don't get it, do they. They think having a permanent seat at the top table is the Holy Grail. Where as most fans consider that something not earned isn't worth having.

They played their cards too early. Now condemned by all and with a government enquiry possibly looming they have less power today than they have had for years.

So many commentators and Facebook warriors get the wrong end of the stick. They compare the money aspects and the angry reactions to perhaps less reaction to politicians or blm. They say the money pumped in with the premier league inception should mean we should put up and shut up.

The anger isn’t about money. It’s about screwing over the teams that provided the competition that allowed those teams to climb the ladder so they could bugger off to a closed shop governed by themselves. It would have massively reduced the value of their domestic leagues because there woikd be much less to play for. Much less to play for means less demand to watch so the broadcast money for the league drops meaning the remaining clubs get less but the “big 6” cream off their fill in their little club.
That’s the problem. Not the money as such although that’s obviously is a consequence.

They would have had a far more compelling argument if it were to be governed by an independent body and qualification was on merit. The problem they have is that competition already exists.
