‘ Robert Glatzel ‘

By Glen Williams

McCarthy made his mind up pretty quickly about Robert Glatzel.

While most were willing to be patient, having seen glimpses of his quality, the manager had made up his mind immediately after he walked through the door.

Glatzel has acquitted himself admirably in the German Bundesliga with Mainz at the back half of the season, although he has not ripped up any trees.

McCarthy stated Glatzel is "not for me" and placed him on the transfer list for this summer, in the hope that his sale can drum up a bit of cash.

There are, of course, two camps when it comes to the German forward; he is not a good for the Championship or Cardiff do not play to his strengths.

On whichever side of the fence you sit, there is no doubting he will likely leave this summer anyway.

Where his future lies remains to be seen, but a sensible guess would be back to Germany. He is far more likely to thrive over there and is more used to its brand of football.

The main question for Cardiff will be how much they can recoup on their £5.5million outlay for him back in 2019. If they get even half of that they will feel as though they have done well, one would think.

Some will deem him unlucky, others will say he had enough chances and didn't take them. Either way, he appears to have played his last game for the Bluebirds.
