Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman believes Liverpool will want to sell loanee Harry Wilson as he enters the final year of his contract at Anfield.
The Wales international impressed during his time with the Bluebirds, shining again out on loan after successive spells with Derby County in the Championship and Bournemouth in the Premier League.
He registered seven goals in 37 league appearances for Mick McCarthy's side, and offered assists on 12 occasions.
It's no surprise, then, that Cardiff would welcome the 24-year-old Wales star back with open arms should he become available for another loan spell.
But Dalman isn't too optimistic at the moment, as any asking price Liverpool demand for the winger is likely to be too lavish for Cardiff's liking in these cash-stricken times.
MEHMET DALMAN:
"I would imagine Liverpool will be looking to sell him," Dalman told BBC Radio Wales.
"Liverpool knows our desire to have him back. If there’s any change in the circumstances there I’m pretty confident Liverpool will let us know.”
In the last transfer window before the 2020-21 season, it became apparent that Wilson was not in Jurgen Klopp's plans, with the club said to have put out a £20million fee for the player.
Burnley reportedly submitted a £16m bid amid interest from Leeds United and Burnley, but Wilson eventually headed for the Welsh capital.
Cardiff manager McCarthy has already revealed he believes clubs will be tightening their belts for next season.
With the summer transfer window on the horizon, Cardiff fans can expect their club to be fully making the most of the loan market.
McCarthy previously said: "I see a lot of loans, yeah there will be. I wonder what Premier League clubs will be doing, I don't know what the Brexit rules are on letting players in. There's lots of things that have changed.
"And there are a lot of players out of contract this year. They'll be looking for clubs and I think a lot of clubs will be tightening their belt."
