Championship trio linked with striker
Neil Warnock’s biggest priority this summer is to sign a first-choice striker, with the Teessiders assessing a number of targets.
One name which emerged over the weekend was Luton striker James Collins, whose contract at Kenilworth Road is set to end.
According to the Daily Mail, Collins is wanted by Boro, Cardiff and Bristol City, with the Teessiders leading the race.
The 30-year-old frontman scored 10 goals in 42 Championship appearances during the 2020/21 campaign.
Cardiff have no intentions to sell Kieffer Moore
Last summer Boro were chasing Welsh international Kieffer Moore, who eventually signed for Championship rivals Cardiff.
Moore has scored 20 Championship goals for the Bluebirds, leading to speculation about his future.
Cardiff owner Mehmet Dalman has said the club intend to keep hold of the striker but admitted every player has a price.
"We have no intention of losing our key striker whatsoever," Dalman told BBC Radio Wales.
"There's nothing to consider here. There have been no offers, there's been no interest."
Dalman added: "When it happens, if it happens, these are things we'll consider... everything's for sale - it's just a matter of price," he added.
"If anything we'd love him to commit to us and have another go next season."
Finally, Boro goalkeeper Brad James made his Hartlepool United debut in a 3-1 win over Aldershot on Saturday.
The 21-year-old joined Pools on loan in April, yet his inclusion in the starting line-up was something of a surprise.
Hartlepool boss Dave Challinor explained his decision after the match.
“It was a decision we made looking forward to play-off games,” said Challinor. “Brad has obviously come in, Brad Young has picked up a little bit of an ankle injury in training.
"What we want to do is give ourselves an opportunity and if Brad is called upon, whether it’s in the next game or in the play-off games, then at least he’s had some experience of what’s going on.”
